The demolition plans are cancelled and the building is saved. I still cannot believe we actually pulled this off to honor John and protect our city history. We won because you stuck by me when everyone said it was impossible.

We believe that a venue and arts centre dedicated to the memory of John Peel, celebrating musical in the North, will be a better use of the Odeon building in Bradford than the current plan to allow developers Langtree to demolish it and replace it with apartments, offices and a hotel.

This project will benefit the city culturally and financially, whilst preserving our heritage. It will benefit the region as a whole, and will provide a Northern hub for independent music.

We appeal to the Homes and Communities Agency to use the powers they have which allow them to back out of the demolition agreement. We then appeal to them to offer us the chance to take this project forward instead.

Seeing one hundred people put their name behind saving the Odeon feels like the first real crack in this wall. I started this because I refuse to watch another piece of our city history turn into generic office space.

The feedback from local musicians has been overwhelming and it shows just how much this building means to our collective history. I am spending my afternoons drafting formal proposals for the agency to prove that a music venue is a far more sustainable vision for Bradford than another block of offices.

John Peel did so much for new music. Putting a venue in the odeon is the perfect way to remember him. Please dont knock it down.

Yes. We need more live music spots up north. This is a no brainer.

TOTAL WASTE OF A HISTORIC BUILDING. turn it into a venue and actually give the city something to be proud of for once.

Bradford needs culture not more empty offices that nobody wants. Save the building before it is gone forever.

Developers only care about profit. They dont care about what we lose. stop the demolition.
