Name: Jennifer Kehoe on May 10, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: What is wrong with this School Board that they would willingly allow this young man's spirit and self-esteem be devastated I agree - don't give him an actual diploma yet. But, they made the mistake in classifying him as a senior and telling him and his parents that he would graduate. Let him walk with his class and stop being so damn cruel! Osceola County isn't looking so good here!Flag

Name: Christina Schulz on May 10, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: You should let him graduate. I think this is an exception to the rule. Let him walk with his class and have him finish the four credits over the summer. What is it gonna hurt letting him walk. I also feel you should inform your class president that people with disabilities have a place in this world and don't just sit home and stare at walls. Maybe the school should teach disability sensitivity instead of homosexuality sensitivity. Just a thought. Have a heart.Flag

Name: Rebecca Brown on May 10, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: I know that Lake County allows seniors to walk when they have not met the requirements. The binder that they receive at graduation which would normally have your diploma in it is empty. I just don't understand why they will not let him walk. It is not hurting anything.Flag

Name: Jay Wheeler on May 10, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: For profoundly menatally disabled students exceptions need to be considered. Personally I find Joey inspirational. I am running for Osceola School Board and will stand up for those unable to stand up for themselves. Do the right thing, and damn the rules ! Let Joey walk with his graduating class. Sincerely, Jay Wheeler/Osceola School Board Candidate/District OneFlag

Where is your heart. Sometimes it is better to listen to your heart than to think with your brain. Maybe you don't have "hearts" though....Flag

Name: Nancy Harris on May 11, 2002State: FLCountry: USComments: What's the big deal Let him participate in the Graduation Ceremony!!! How could an ESE student, that has so many more opportunities to have their educational goals 'monitored', run into such a mess of misunderstandings, just 2 weeks before every high school students much anticipated high school graduation At his last IEP...wasn't that something that was discussed and determined if he was going to have all his required credit requirements and goals met before the May graduation I surely hope those kinds of things were discussed and implamented into his last IEP!!! And IF his high school graduation requirements were NOT discussed...then WHY NOT!!! Give me a break! Joey deserves to WALK across the stage with every other St. Cloud High School student and be proud that he earned his high school diploma! This high school principle should be ashamed of the way this has all gotten out of hand and come to all this..all it would have taken would have been to not give him a signed diploma or not even give him any diploma, until ALL his credits are satisified and turned in..but to be so rigid and not give even a teeny bit, shows that this principle has NO PRINCIPLES!!! Because it has now become the PRINCIPLE OF IT ALL!! Shame on you Mr. George Sullivan for not seeing the forest thru the trees!! Nancy Harris Fort Lauderdale, FloridaFlag
