SAVE JESUS HOSPITAL ALMHOUSES, BRAY This petition is intended to show support for the residents of Jesus Hospital and Bray village who do not want the almshouses to close. For 400 years, since William Goddard bequeathed them to the local ‘aged poor’, these Grade I listed almshouses have been at the heart of Bray. The Fishmongers’ Company have proposed passing over the trusteeship to Bristol Charities, who intend to sell the site. Finally, on 5th August we met with the Fishmongers Company. At that meeting we proposed that the transfer of trusteeship to Bristol Charities be set aside, to allow us time to develop a local solution. I am pleased to report that the Fishmongers have agreed to give us until 30th November to put forward our proposals. We thank them for allowing us this time. Please view our website www.savejesushospital.org.uk for information. We need to continue to ask for donations(details on the website) to fund professional advisors. If you feel able to make a contribution, the money will be carefully spent to ensure the best possible outcome. If you wish to be kept updated, please email: savejesushospital@live.co.uk, check our website and look at the links on the right. Thank you so much from the 'Friends of the almshouse at Jesus Hospital' (Patron - Sir Michael Parkinson)
