Name: Anonymous on Nov 14, 2008Comments: The Deir El Sultan Ethiopian Monastery in Jerusalem is a historic legacy of not only the Ethiopian people but that of humanity at large. From all the countries in sub-Saharan Africa, only Ethiopia has a monastery in Jerusalem. Engineers have reported that the monastery is in urgent need of a repair and maintenance failing which it will collapse thus endangering the lives of the monks, clergy, and visitors which include Israeli citizens. It is obvious that the Israeli government has the interest and obligation to protect its residents/citizens from such adversity and preserve the historic Ethiopian monastery premises. I, therefore, fervently appeal to the Israeli Prime Minister to authorize, as a matter of urgency, the urgent repair and maintenance of the Ethiopian monastery in Jerusalem. Kidane AlemayehuFlag

Name: Kebede Amede on Nov 16, 2008Comments: I am one of the Ethiopians who fled my country and is now living in Canada. I am very concerned about the conditions of the Ethiopian Orthodocs monastery in Jerusalem. Dear Prime Minister, our two countries have long lived friendly relationship for about two thousand years. Because of lack of freedom in my country I came to Canada and one of my Ethiopian Jewish friend for the same reason left her country and now lives in Israel. My and my Ethiopian Jewish friend fates seemed inextricably intertwined. The same thing is true to our to countries.Flag

I strongly believe that Israel takes into account the strong bondage with Ethiopia not only becasue of the Ethiopian Jejws but also due to the high sacrifice paid by Emperor Haile Selassie to keep this Ethiopian Bondage with Jerusalem. I hope this long standing relationship will not be destroyed by egoistic third pary involvement. thksFlag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 23, 2008Comments: A professional engineer has confirmed that the Eth monastery buildings will collapse and endanger the lives of the monks, clergy and visitors who include Israeli citizens unless the repair is undertaken urgently. Therefore, all ethiopians and friends of Ethiopians should call on the Israeli Prime Minister to authorize the repair. Anyone who opposes such a petition is an enemy of EOTC and the Ethiopian people!Flag
