Comments: I hope the city council will revisit this issue. Jerry Crawford has more than proven that he can lead this, or any, fire department.

Comments: claude Talford and Chester Anderson took the Memphis Fire Department back 30 Years and the morale to an all time low. Jerry Crawford is a man who can not only bring the fire department back up to date and forward but can bring morale back up to an all time high by being proactive and a great leader. He proved this on September 11 by leading task force 1. Please if you care about your voters and the great people in Memphis you will do the right thing by reconsidering Jerry Crawford for Fire Services Director.

Comments: At a time the United States of America was in need. Jerry Crawford headed up the Tennessee Task Force and deployed to Washington on 9-11 because the government of our country needed Crawfords experienced team and expertise. Crawfords team worked for over a week at the Pentagon-WORK THAT IS UNDESCRIBABLE(even if I could you would not want to here it)-while the families stayed glued to their tv's at home. I feel that Crawford is the most qualified experanced person to head up the MFD. and is not nor has not been just a "paper pusher" as many of us are behind our desks. Furthermore I feel that if our government of this great country can trust and depend on Crawfords leadership in Washington that heading up the Memphis Fire Dept. is long overdue. I remember the day that Crawfords team came home from the Pentagon- People(no matter the sex, age, race or religion) lined the streets of Memphis waving flags as the many buses of Crawfords team arrived home. Dont let your personal politics block this citys future.

Comments: I had the honor of serving with Chief Crawford on Tennessee Task Force One. I believe his leadership during his tenure as Chief of Special Operations was the key to properly preparing us for our deployment after September 11, 2001. I have found him to be an organized, honorable, and dedicated man and truly believe that the citizens of Memphis could find no one more capable to serve as the Director of the Memphis Fire Department.

Comments: I support Jerry Crawford. He is qualified for and deserving of the job. He is a man of integrity, something many of the leaders in this city lack. What a tragedy to launch a national seearch when we have a wonderful candidate in our own backyard.

Comments: Although Jerry Crawford is granfathered in his ability to live outside Shelby County in his current position, he has said from the very beginning that should he be appointed to this position, he would move to the city of Memphis within 30 days. In this appointed postion, he has six months to relocate and he has been willing to do just that. Should someone at the national level be hired for the position, that person would also have to re-locate to Memphis. SO....what's the difference Jerry Crawford's track record in his 20 plus years with the Fire Department clearly indicates he is the BEST person for the job.

Comments: The city council has made a grave mistake on behalf of the Memphis Fire Dept. The denial of Jerry Crawford for Memphis Fire Director was a huge injustice to Jerry as well as the fire department. For the benefit of the Fire Department you should strongly reconsider Jerry for this position.
