I am trying to get a law passed (Jaycie's Law) starting in South Carolina and hopefully going nationwide or even worldwide for mandatory drug testing in Emergency Rooms for DOCUMENTED drug addicts before prescribing drugs, such as pain pills (narcotics) that could compromise their lives. The pain pill prescription problem that we know exist has been declared an epidemic. Since we have already started a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program here in SC and many other states....We need to pass a law in the ER for mandatory drug testing for documented drug addicts to go along with this PDMP. This law is specific and not intended for people with chronic pain that need these types of medications for quality life. With the PDMP being used and bringing education into our schools and Jaycie's Law, I feel it would be the start of helping put a stop to this deadly epidemic that we have here in the United States and all over the world. Enough is enough. We need this simple request to become a law so we as humans can help stop this epidemic that is growing rapidly.
