In a recent ( Sept. 2012) interview with director James Cameron, he admitted he almost got the chance to direct the 1993 movie "Jurassic Park", which eventually got directed by Steven Spielberg. While I feel that Jurassic Park is a masterpiece and that Spielberg was the only man who could do the original justice, the sequels ( The Lost World and 3) don't hold a candle to the original. With Universal Pictures announcement that Jurassic Park 4 is expected to be released in the summer of 2014, I feel that James Cameron's darker approach to Jurassic Park is just what it needs to breath new life in this franchise. For those who read the Michael Crichton novel, you would know it is a lot darker and more terrifying than the film adaptation of Jurassic Park ( though the film does have its terrifying and dark moments), similar to that of Aliens, a movie James Cameron directed. With that in mind, I feel Cameron should be considered to direct the 4th installment in the franchise, which would not only make it darker than its predecessors, but also more in line with the novels than the movies.
