Name: Carolyn Frazier on Apr 19, 2011Comments: I wholeheartedly support reconsideration of all juvenile life without parole sentences, particularly in cases such as Jacqueline Montanez's. Our laws on this issue are out of step with our current state of knowledge about adolescent behavior and brain development. They are also out of step with human decency, as evidenced by the fact that we are one of the only countries in the world meting out this sentence. It's time to change this!Flag

Name: Chris Inserra on Apr 19, 2011Comments: Humanity demands reconsideration of Jaqueline's sentence. Having a 15 year old, I can attest to the lack of consistent emotional development at this age. Many more years are needed to solidfy a teenagers ability to make good choices even with the best of support.Flag

Name: Patricia Puritz on Apr 19, 2011Comments: I totally support the Governor of Illinois and the Illinois Prisoner Review Board reconsidering the sentence of Jacqueline Montanez. I'm sure the taxpayer's of Illinois could find a much better use of their tax dollars than to keep this young woman locked up for the rest of her life.Flag

She was the victim and protected herself! No 15yr should have ever been tried as an adult let alone given the death penalty for saving herself against gang violence!Flag

Name: Ashley Lundgren on Apr 25, 2011Comments: It does not seem fair that Jacqueline is the only female in Illinois serving a sentence of life without parole for a crime that was committed when she was a juvenile. Therefore, I am signing this petition, hoping to grant clemency for Jacqueline and hope that that Governor of Illinois and the Illinois PRB will do the same.Flag

Name: Donna Liette on Apr 27, 2011Comments: I strongly support all the efforts being made to give Jacqueline her freedom. She takes ownership of the harm she has caused families. She has dreams now of being a life-giving presence in violent communities and restoring harm, helping others who suffer abuse in their youth to find healthy ways of dealing with pain and anger.Flag
