The Governor thinks he can ignore us if we stay quiet. Get this petition in front of everyone you know right now so we hit that hundred signature mark and force them to look at what they are doing to Jacqueline.

I think Jacqueline Montanez deserves another chance. It is cruel and inhuman to lock a child up for life, regardless of what she did and especially considering herself being a victim of brutality, ruining her childhood.

Life without parole for children is cruel and against basic human rights. Everyone deserves a second chance, and especially Jacqueline who has spent more than half of her life in prison and has shown tremendous growth, responsibility and remorse.

She should be given a new trial and then released free and clear of all charges

Cesar Diaz

I really don't think that she deserves life. It sounds like she went through a lot when she was a child. P.s. I also grew up in that Era where police use those tactics. I was a good kid and honor student and by mistake I experienced that tactic first hand.

Patricia Belmonte

I sign the petition and agree with a clemency for Jackie

ivelis Lopez

I meet this Ms. Montanez & I believe she deserves another chance at her freedom.

Susan Corral

Free this woman she has done her time.

Susan Corral

Growing up in the same area was just a disaster. This woman deserves another chance. as kids I went to school with Jackie she was one of my good friend. I think if she is free she will make a difference in our community if given a chance. something she was never given a chance at as a child. people use this as an example. if you don't care for your child who will an who should be responsible for the wrong doing in that child's life. I am 100% sure she will be a much better person in the world. Free Jackie

Hope she gets home soon. God bless you. And she shouldn't have been tried as an adult

The 15 year old that committed those horrible crimes should be given a chance to prove herself as long as her time in prison has reflected that she indeed has matured to a responsible adult.

Tretara Flowers #K93929

I was a former inmate where Jacky Montanez was incarcerated and I too believe that she has served enough time and is a grown woman now. I wish her the best. #teamjacky....

Asia Robertson

I just want to say I was locked up with her n I didn't see a devil or evil person I seen a lil girl trapped n a woman's body because her childhood innocence was taking away from her. I was abused as a young girl multiple times by a family member n I'm not saying it was a excuse for me to b the way I was as a teenager I made a lot of mistakes n choices that I'm suffering from now. All I'm saying is u get lost u have no one to help u n ur on the streets there's no love out there so u have to survive I know it still deeply hurts me the feeling she learned because she's been caged but u know the way I feel like no one is to b trusted n I have to protect myself I coulda been in her shoes it's no excuse but u just don't know the feeling for someone to do something like that to u @ a young age it's horrible no those men can't come back n God bless there families but they weren't so perfect either. I just wanted help n love n I still want it so once again it's no excuse but u just don't understand the feeling ur so lost... Instead of taking her life away try helping her...

It was not justice, it is cruelty to a child. She deserves to be heard. She is obviously a changed woman right now.

Joshua Evens

I sign this petition because I because the court should of never token away her eligibility for parole. She was a child when she committed this crime, more then less her parents she of been held responsible also. One of the girls is actually out of prison the other two are ineligible .

Ivette Medina Montanez

that was many years ago I feel at age 15 kids are rebelling towards there parents especially when they think there in love the code street of being down for one another has played out. I belive my cousin is ready to live her life now! Many people lost love one but face it she payed for her wrong doing she was way to young to be in the streets way to young to have a gun who gave her that gun who have instructions to do so that's my question of all of this well she pulled the trigger really. It's time to let her get a piece of life it was more of a love story to me and ended with a bang for love... God bless the world and God bless her and with that she will be free.

Children in the justice system need protection and a different treatment compared to adults. Especially if the "child" is in prison for so long! The Governor of Illinois and the Illinois Prisoner Review Board should act according to the UN treaty for children's rights!

I was incarcerated with Jackie at myself the age of 17. We were in Dwight together. Being that both of us were 17 (at that time only 4 of us that young) I was scared to death and did not fully understand the ramifications of my actions. Although I was not there for homicide, remembering my maturity level, I feel she was too young for that kind of sentence. I too was in gangs and I am now a hard working mother of 6. in short that woman deserves a chance to live. Free Jackie!!!!!

Martin ramirez

Keep your head up

Free this young lady. To me shes still young because she went in at a young age. I believe she deserves a second chance in life.

Jesus longo

As a king myself let that girl out

Joel Childress

She should of been tried fairly. Nobody should receive a life long punishment at such a young age of 15. This woman deserves a second chance!

Anonymous

She took my uncle's life. She doesn't deserve to live her life outside a cell

Teddy Blanco

Every one in life got a second chance at something. She was 15 years old she was easily influence through the gang life. Let her get her second chance and see what she does to redeem herself in society.

Gerry Barillas

its hard to really comprehend what she has done..but i also know that when i was 15 years old i did many things that today i deeply regret..and i honestly believe that this woman has rehabilitated herself and has moved in a positive direction when in prison is very hard to do. She deserves a second chance.

Anonymous

I was also locked up with montanez. I saw NO change at all I've been in and out of prison. For one she glorified being a cold blooded killer. And i was on the same unit with her. She wrote it on her door and that was just in 2012. If she changed im sure it would of should. I do need to say who does deserve a second chance and that Mulero. Now if i could it would be her. That i can say you can see a change in her without even knowing her. But jackie she's git or has shown no remorse. One time she stated she shiuld 9f done the murder in Florida where its hot. Instead of these cold winters in Illinois.

Stefonn Macey

Your mind changes as you grow she was 15 at the time of her crime still a child basically. I hope they grant her clemency.

Anonymous

It says juveniles shouldn't be sentenced to life unless the juvenile commits a homicide not 1 but 2 and she planned to kill any latin king. She shows no change at all if only u could ser her actions being in the penitentiary. I feel for james cruz sister and family we can forgive but you can't forget. She deserves het life sentence. She aint changed she still loca d have you heard het talk still thuggish ways even in prison. I know i was with her many times. She shows ABSOLUTELY no remorse. To me she walked with her head high cause she killed a latin king in return for the manaiacs latin disciples. At a certain age we all know right from wrong and thats as early as 7. She deserves the same sentence hector and james got no life at all. She should be happy shes alive period. I would see if she changed but her actions and ways show NO change at all!!!! Pat Quinn i will write a letter to you from me personally. She jackie montanez deserves to continue her life sentence behind bars in logan correctional facility. Remember it says juveniles shouldn't get life unless a homicide and that's exactly what she did not one but 2!!!!

Luis Perez

i myself is a humboldt pk resident, kids at that age are easily influenced from the time she was 15 till kids now that are 15, the sentence was wrong, she at least shouldve got what the other girl got 35 yrs!!

Latreace Stelivan

This was a 15 year old girl She deserves to live the rest of her life with her family . I'm pretty sure she's not going to hang in the street anymore obama can pardon big meech as a adult but a 15 year old girl can't have a chance ??

Meshell gonzalez

I don't know her but we grew up around the same neighbor hood talmen Cortland, my ex use to live with with her real father, so he said zorro and her to brothers and one sister, her father talked so good about her so did her siblings, it was jus the streets and other situations that messed her life up. She knows her mistakes I think and think she should be free now and start a whole new life for her self :-) she a good women godbless her always

Martha Gonzalez

Unfair long sentence.

shrday pleasant

Please I think she is a change person and deserve her freedom

Wanda Martinez

She deserves another chance. After the video i seen of her at court getting her resentecing I seen that she was a changed person. I did my senior project on her in 2015 and i learned so much about her. I really believe that she deserves another chance.

Ray Williams Jr

She's paid her debt to society and then some.

Danielle Monique

She was a kid when she made that mistake she shouldn't be held accountable for a bad choice as a child we all mad bad choices as kids she served her time. I myself saw the hurt in her when she was 20 years old the tears for what she had done rolled down her face in a scared straight program at cook country jail. She had served her time then and should have been freed. She has suffered to long for a mistake made as a child it's not right. The hardest thing she will see have to do in life now is be released. She's the sweetest person I have met

Danielle Monique

You don't know her personally you must be a relative or a Latin king gang member. I know her and live with her she has regret what she done years ago. No child should get a life sentence she was a kid when she committed that crime and if children, teenagers made good life decisions they wouldn't need adults in their lives whoever you are I know you have made mistakes as a child everyone has and we all wish we can turn back the hands of time but we can't we learn from our mistakes and Jackie learned a long time ago that what she did was bad I seen it in her eyes I felt it when she spoke.

Danielle Monique

I'm sorry for your loss all the blacks and Hispanics in Chicago has lost someone to gang violence no one is more important than any one else but the hatred you hold for Jackie won't bring your uncle back nothing in this world will ease our pain for the ones we lost in these street. She served her time and she was a baby when she committed this crime. Her life has been taken away from her so be it. There are things she will never have the pleasure of if she is released right now. This is a harsh world we live in I wish I could turn back the hands of time to make it right but I can't we can't. We have to go on living life in this messed up world and focus on raising our children better than the last. It's not so easy for black and Latino children.

Danielle Monique

Free jackie

Danielle Monique

If she was white she would have been out on the fact that she was just a child I Love you Jackie and I'm sorry for not keeping in touch and I really wish i would have gave you those contact lenses you asked me for that was selfish of me I hope I can make it up to you love always Goddess

Danielle Monique

The monster is the person's who want her to stay behind bars as if they were the only one to loose a loved one what about all the murders walking the streets never served time what about The families who have no clue who took the life of their loved one. They go on living and forgiving cause they have no choice. For anyone to condemn a child is a monster. Everyone has lost someone but to the hands of a child is not right Jackie was a child who should have been released from prison and if you can't understand that something is wrong with you. But no seems to bring up the fact that these guys wasn't innocent either they were apart of the most notorious gang in Chicago and world wide and backed by the Catholic Church The Latin king are no joke and they tried to assassinate Jackie while she was behind bars. Her life has been taken away from her so what she wakes up every day she probably wishes she didn't every body MAKES MISTAKES NO ONE IS PERFECT NO ONE IS MORE SPECIAL THAN THE OTHER, SHE COMMITTED A CRIME AS A CHILD NOT A THINKING ADULT SHE IS SORRY TO THE FAMILY OF THE VICTIMS SHE HAS BEEN SORRY AND HURTING FOR THE FAMILY of the victims. It's sad that some people don't grow up and those people are free walking around outside committing crimes daily going back and forth to jail, when Jackie did something as a child paid her dues and some . She is living in a tomb there is no joy behind bars so just because wakes up every day don't mean a thing. And if she is to be released I pray she makes it in this world I believe in God 100%

Danielle Monique

I am earning a doctoral degree in a related field and find this case profoundly disturbing. More so that no one questioned or considered what the girl at the time had endured throughout her childhood. A child should never be charged as an adult___ as research supports, they do not have the mental competency to make decisions as an adult would. More over, this case as well as waiving juveniles to the adult court is embarrassing for the U.S. Illinois, without question, should reconsider this case given this was overturned in the Supreme Court after the fact. This is unacceptable and highly demoralizing.

Anonymous

Illinois owes children a more hopeful future than this. Especially since they failed her consistently during her childhood. Illinois needs to review this case and give a future.

LEMUEL ARCHER

YOU MEAN TO TELL ME ITS COME DOWN TO THE YOUNG KIDS ARE BEING LOCKED AWAY ON THE SAME LEVELS AS ADULTS. THIS IS THE SAME SYSTEM WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TRUST? THE SAME SYSTEM THAT WOULD ELECTRICUTE A SEVEN YR OLD. IM SORRY FOR THE ONES WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LOVED ONES BUT DAMN YOU MEAN YOU CANNOT CUNJURE IN YOUR BRAIN A FIFTEEN YR OLD CHILD BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED AND PUT INTO A GANG BY A GROWN FATHER THAT SOMETHING DRASTIC WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN TO HER. FOR THOSE WHO CAN SIT THERE BAD MOUTHING HER AT DAMN FIFTEEN YRS OLD ARE THE SAME ONES WHO WOULD BE PLEADING TO THE JUDGE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR CHILD IS JUST A CHILD.HOW CAN YOU TURN TO A MESSED UP SYSTEM THAT TARGETS MORE MINORITIES MUCH LESS THE SAME COPS WHO ARRESTED HER FINNESED HER INTO A CONFESSION WITHOUT A LAWYER NOR HER OWN PARENTS PRESENT TO SAY YES THIS IS THE ANSWER EVEN FOR A CHILD WHO HAD THEIR CHILHOODTAKEN AND ALTERED FROM THEM. THOSE COPS THAT JUDGE AND ANYBODY WHO WISHED BAAD UPON HER AT THAT AGE WILL HAVE TO ANSWER FOR THAT. DONALD TRUMP OWNS JAILS AND PRISONS HERE. YOU STILL THINK THE SYSTEM IS JUSTIFIED? PEOPLE WAKE UP LET JACKIE FREE FOR A CRIME SHE COMMITED AT THE AGE OF FIFTEEN. YOU SHOULD GIVE HER FATHER LIFE IF ANYTHING. NOT HER WAKE UP. THAT WAY OF THINKING AMONGST THE NEXT HUMAN BEING MUCH LESS A DAMN CHILD IS DESPICABLE AND MESSING UP HUMANITY AS WE SPEAK. NO CHILD NO CHILD SHOULD BE PUT AWAY FOR LIFE IN A PLACE THATS JUST MEANT TO DESTROY AND BREAK .

I really feel like Jackie deserves a second chance she is a different person now. It's not her fault she was raised the way she was. She learned how to take her anger out on other people but it wasn't her fault she had all the anger she said she wished someone would of helped her rescued from that family she a way different person she learned her lesson she very sorry of what she did but I don't think it's fair for her to be in jail for like she's been there for 23years now. I really have fait in her and hope she get sentences to a less time!!
