PETITION

Let it be clear that we, the signers of this petition, declare that we believe in and agree with the following words written by Imam W. Deen Mohammed’s wife, Khadijah Siddeeq-Mohammed, on December 1, 2012, on www.Siddeeq.com:

“Imam Mohammed’s words define our community and the community must have undeniable access to them without having to ask permission first. Imam Mohammed’s works are not primarily a means to make money. They are a means with which to sustain the life in our community and give or sustain life in other communities. One very important reason the community must have unimpeded access to his works is that Imam Mohammed’s words DEFINE our community. Think about it. We call ourselves ‘the community of Imam W.D. Mohammed’. We didn’t follow a person just to follow a person. We followed a logic and an understanding that we found in his teachings. Thus it is only appropriate that we see his works as belonging to the community and not to any individual.”

Therefore, the signers of this petition request that the estate of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, its executor and its heirs, create a social contract with the community and a legal contract that binds them to uphold the social contract.

The social contract shall be a document in which the estate declares to the community that it will allow the free and unfettered use of the lectures, speeches, writings, and pictures of Imam Mohammed for educational and promotional purposes and that it promises to act only as a custodian of the knowledge-body of the Imam, taking legal action only to protect it against misuse and abuse by enemies and misguided persons and groups.

The legal contract shall be a document that legally binds the executor and heirs of the estate to fulfill the spirit and purpose of the social contract and prevents the executor from unilaterally breaking the social contract to renege on its terms.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY

Dear Community of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, it is critical that you support this petition because there is currently a legal effort in the Chancery Court of Cook County, Chicago Illinois by Wallace Muhammad II to PERSONALLY OWN, Control, and Profit from the Life Works of Imam W. Deen Mohammed. (See original court order documents on www.siddeeq.com)

Wallace Muhammad II is arguing that everything that Imam Mohammed ever said or did in his life belongs exclusively to him and no one else and that he is the sole authority over who can and cannot use the works of the Imam and that he has the sole authority to do with the materials as he pleases.

Wallace Mohammed the II has quietly trademarked the name of Imam W. Deen Mohammed and there are serious indications through published statements and documented cases that if granted this control and authority it would be used to force community members to come through him for permission and most likely pay a fee or some form of compensation to him to use the lectures, speeches, writings, and/or pictures of the Imam.

Our position is that no one person owns the knowledge-body of Imam W. Deen Mohammed; the knowledge-body was a blessing from Allah to this community for the benefit of humanity. For any one person or few individuals to seek ownership of it is tantamount to theft of community property.

We believe that Wallace Muhammed II (an heir) and the estate of Imam Mohammed should not seek to own and possess this knowledge-body to seek financial enrichment at the expense of the community’s rights. Instead, we believe the estate of Imam Mohammed should seek an arrangement that is mutually beneficial and best for the mission of the community.

If you agree with this petition, please join us and join the signers of this petition in our call for the estate of Imam Mohammed, including Wallace Muhammad II, to support the vision of Sister Khadijah Siddeeq-Mohammed, the wife of Imam W. D. Mohammed,  to create a Social Contract with the Community of Imam Mohammed and a Legal Contract that ensures and enforces  that:

The community of Imam W. D. Mohammed must ALWAYS have unimpeded and undeniable access to Imam W. D. Mohammed’s Words.  Words that do not belong to any individual but to humanity as a whole.  Words  which are the life’s blood that defines the very essences of our community, the G-d Inspired Community of Imam W. D. Mohammed.
