    Comments: The ethics of the questionnaire presented are deeply fraught (ex., asking if we attend religious services as part of our health profile). The idea of that information going into a corporation's database also raises serious questions. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the goals and values of this approach. It would be helpful to delay. Please, do consider these concerns.

    Comments: the health engagement plan doesn't currently show a clear policy for how to deal with people with complex health issues that might make it impossible for them to 'improve' their biometric measuring; nor does it take into account important differences between most faculty in most staff in terms of their financial and time-management abilities to respond to the recommendations of the plan. finally, we don't know if any of this work and effort will in fact result in any beneficial results for the university or for those individuals participating in the plan, in terms of cutting costs. we are flying blind, without a map.

    Comments: Thanks for starting the petition. I have some serious issues with the details of HEP, but I am particularly concerned with the way it has been introduced without any meaningful public review. Moreover, as far as I know, even the internal administrative review has been superficial at best and perhaps even irresponsible.

    Comments: It does seem to me that before IU starts taking blood samples, there are some other steps it could take to help create a healthier culture on campus--like, oh, I don't know, not charging faculty $20 a month to use the gym.

    Comments: In addition, while I am completely supportive of incentives to encourage people to lead healthy lifestyles, I would like to see the University provide a model by offering many options for healthful foods (the machines that serve snacks and the fast-food restaurants in the IMU do just the opposite). If we want people to be healthy, the University should eliminate the junk food factor on campus, . I would also like to suggest that free exercise classes be made available for staff, as well as time during their busy days to take advantage of physical activity. As a faculty member, I remain very concerned that the currently evolving policies remain amorphous, and while I have already completed the online questionnaires and the biometric testing, I am unclear what the next steps are, or how any of this will be implemented.

    Comments: I am concerned that the IU Health Engagement Program will create a two-tiered health insurance system at IU, one that penalizes those who are least healthy and thereby undermines the whole point of health insurance, which is to spread costs and risks evenly across the largest possible number of people.

    Comments: The IU Health Engagement Program penalizes employees with preexisting health issues. It is not fair to charge those with health issues beyond their control a higher premium. One possible way to to amend this situation would be for IU to open its facilities such as the sports rec. center at no cost to it's employees. And to provide for those with serious issues, such as needing water aerobics time out for work to go to sessions.
