On January 1, 2006 our son Tyler, then 91 days old, aspirated. Matthew was home wit hTyler when Ty stopped breathing. He immediately attempted CPR, when Ty started vomiting and breathing shallowly, he called 911 for help. The ambulance came and took Ty away, We raced to the hospital to be with our son. We were told Ty aspirated on his own vomit. a second Dr. came in and told us we shook our baby, and we shook him hard. Matthew is not a violent person, nor has he ever been. It took Winnebago county EIGHT YEARS to bring this case to trial, they had NO PROOF and NO EVIDENCE that Matthew hurt our son, yet the states attorney made him out to be a MONSTER. the jury seemed more interested in getting to their Thanksgiving plans, as our trial led right up to Thanksgiving. Some jury members slept, while others complained on the lengthiness of the process, and even went as far as to speaking freely in public elevators and reading the local paper and watching the local news. Matthew NEVER got a fair trial in our county. THE JUDGE did not even want to read the verdict the jury made. Now Matthew, sits in prison, where he should not be, while his wife and three boys are struggling to survive. Tyler lives at home with his mom and brothers. along with nursing that is provided when the hours can be filled by the agency. Keely, Matts wife spends MANY MANY nights up taking care of Tyler because there is no nurse.and still balancing the other two children, also taking care of her grandfather who has moderate dementia. Matt being removed from our equation has put stress on everyone, near and far. it would be different if he was an awful abusive person, but he is the complete opposite. he never had a fair chance, NEVER. We need Matt here with us. Please sign our petition, join our cause, this can NOT be allowed. there was NO JUSTICE. THERE WAS NO PROOF. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE. there was many many letters supporting Matthew and our family. Contact me with any questions you may have..PLease help us bring Matthew home. we need him here.
