| 855 | Russell Butler | It's childish and embarrassing that the administration can't even invite the Vice President of our country without controversy. Give me a break! Where were these people when Helen Thomas was on campus. It tires me to even think of all of the ways these people are demonstrating their hypocrisy. |
| 856 | Robert Henry | It's quite an honor and privelege to have the Vice President of the United States of America speak at your university. Those who disagree with certain policies should still respect the office. I would expect, and hope, that your university would make him feel welcome. |
| 857 | Anonymous | Even though I truly hate politics, I support any decision made by the people in charge to lead BYU. |
| 858 | Nick Denzer | Go Cheney! |
| 859 | Bryan Basso | yay for Cheney and long live the College Republicans |

| 862 | Jason Knapp | I support BYU's board of trustees for their decision to not favor either main political party and to invite both Dick Cheney and Harry Reid to speak at BYU within the next few months. I also support the First Presidency's statement that ideals compatible with the gospel are found in the platforms of both political parties.
I flatly reject the notion that the LDS Church believes that there is One True Political Party, red or blue, and I reject the offensive dismissal of protestor's against Dick Cheney's record or policies as rebels against BYU's leadership or infidels who do not follow ordained general church leaders.
I support "the current BYU administration" in its invitation to politicians with diverse views AND in its invitation for students to publicly and civilly express their diverse views. I support the notion that the allegiance of church members is to the church, and
I reject as manipulative and destructive the actions of some members that attempt to twist the teachings of my revered church leaders into an argument requiring political homogeneity despite the explicit and repeatedly-stated church policy of firm political neutrality . |

| 864 | Michael G. Allred | I support the First Presidency and the other members of the Board of Trustees in everything they do. They certainly aren't your average college board of administrators, and they are well qualified to know what's best for BYU students--including those students who are sadly lacking in gratitude, wisdom, and open-mindedness. |
| 865 | Kathy Christensen | Having the Vice President speak is an honor...NOT a political statement! I would support BYU even if I did not agree with Vice President Cheney's views. |

| 867 | Katherine Chirstensen | Honestly, that is ridiculous that people are making such a big deal about this! I think it's awesome that the Vice President of our country is willing to speak to us! |

| 875 | Michelle Delli Gatti | I am stoked for BYU to have such an amazing opportunity to hear wise words from one of the most powerful and influential people in America. I support BYU, The Board, and the VP of our country. |
| 876 | Jenny Lynn | Whether you agree with Cheney on politics or not it is a wonderful opportunity to have him as a guest at BYU. It is an honor that our school has been offered the opportunity to host the Vice President of the United States. Those students who prefer that Cheney not visit our school are most certainly welcome to their opinion. I sincerely hope that they behave with courtesy and dignity when Cheney appears at commencement despite their objections. |
| 877 | David Hartley | The university can invite anyone they want as speaker to their commencement ceremonies. It is inconceivable that anyone should object to their wishes.
Best wishes and good luck in your endeavors

| 878 | Jason Barzee | As a former BYU student and a US Marine reservist I support 100% BYU's decision to have Vice President Cheney speak. I respect and admire what he and President Bush have accomplished and what they continue to stand for despite so much opposition from those who seek nothing but political gain. There is no one more fit ( who is seeking candidacy) to lead this nation during these times. I wish I could be there to see him speak! |

| 881 | Jay and Carole Lenz | There should be no protest when the Vice President of the United States, an invited guest, comes to speak at the upcoming commencement. That would be very disrespectful and as an LDS University, we should stand by our country and those who are our elected officials. BYU should stand out as a University who can show the world that we do not allow radicals of differing oppions to use the Vice Presidents visit as a bandstand for anti-American, anti-political demonstrations.
We are a blessed nation and our freedoms are many times taken for granted. I am one who loves my country. I lived on the campus of BYU while my husband attended and graduated from there. We both fell that such a demonstration would degrade the principles for which this great university has been respected and honored for many years. |

| 888 | Adam Stoddard | At first I thought Cheney's coming was a PR snafu on the part of the University because of his extreme unpopularity...
But seeing the proclaimed non-conformist left protest sensationally has motivated me to draw closer to my partisan roots and support this visit. They must be opposed. |
| 889 | Rachel Tan | As an international student at this university, I feel that it is a great honour to have the Vice President of the United States of America (in other words, your vice president) come to speak at BYU's commencement. I support this decision and all those that had the authority to make it. |

| 897 | Debbie Jensen | Doing what I can to express my opinion, I think this is silly and a waste of everyones effort and time, aren't there much bigger issues to deal with? |

| 899 | Anonymous | I think these democrats are a bunch of bed wetters and need to find something better to do with there time. The democrats only stance it seems to me is that the republicans are doing a bad job, but do not have any plans themsleves to solve any roblems this nation faces. |
