| 201 | Paul Parry | I was born in Llanelli and even though I have not lived there for over 20 years, I still remember how the town was in the 70s & 80s quite well. Since those times, a lot of Victorian (and older) buildings have been demolished, including the York Hotel (the Whatnot) and the Queen Vic. Island House must not be another addition, especially due to the history that must be associated with it, in view of it's age. |
| 202 | Iwan Griffiths | The council obviously didn't learn after they destroyed the old market and all the old pubs and shops around where the Sunken Gardens were built! |
| 203 | Andy Clarke | Even though I am not a regular to this pub, I still feel that the building is an attractive asset to the town's Eastern Gateway, providing something that Llanelli is very short of. Surely, there must be ways of integrating the existing building into the new plans. |
| 204 | Llanelli | Please keep the pub open... The council seem to be intent on knocking down as many buildings as possible without any thought of replacing them... The town centre is turning into a place of boarded up premises with no new bricks being laid to try and encourage people into the town... Let's save the pub!!! |
| 205 | Paul Rousselle | The progress in Llanelli is leading to the dstruction of many other landmarks in the town that, rather than being renovated, are being merely demolished for the sake of progress. We must quench progress for the sake of progress. This is not needed. |

| 209 | MR A SMITH | THERE IS NOT MUCH OF THE OLD LLANELLI LEFT ITS ABOUT TIME SOMETHING WAS LEFT STANDING WHAT IS THE POINT OF REBUILDING FOR NEW SHOPS WHEN ALL THE SHOPS ARE MOVING TO TROSTRE. |
| 210 | Ken Richards | A town is rcognisableby its landmarks,LLanelli can ill afford to lose any more. |

| 213 | Anonymous | I have drunk at this public house since 1976, it is one of the best inns around Llanelli it would be sacrilege to destroy yet another landmark of which few have been left in the town. Any development should incorporate the Island House which along with the Stepney Hotel should be preserved as listed buildings. |
| 214 | Anonymous | It is one of the best inns around Llanelli and a disgrace to destroy another landmark of which very few have been left in Llanelli. The council are hell bent on destroying Llanelli and to date have done a wonderful job. This madness must cease at all costs. Any development should incorporate the Island House along with a renovated Stepney Hotel and should be preserved as listed buildings. |
| 215 | Sarah Tovey | This is the only decent building left in town other than the town hall. Absolutely disgraceful the council should be ashamed of themselves. |
| 216 | Kelvin Rees | Far too much of old Llanelli has already been demolished in the name of 'progress'. The very heart of the town is now a shadow of its former self and appears unlikely to recover despite the latest offer of free parking (who thought that one up?). Landmark buildings like 'The Island House' define the character of townships and communities and must not be destroyed; this pub stands impressively at the approach to the town centre (or what's left of it) and should be retained as an integral part of any long term development plan the Council might have (surely there must be a plan somewhere, or am I assuming too much?). My message to the planners is straightforward: KEEP 'THE ISLAND HOUSE' INTACT AND STOP THE SYSTEMATIC DEMOLITION OF LLANELLI TOWN CENTRE BEFORE IT REALLY IS TOO LATE. |

| 218 | Mrs Deborah Johnson | Why should the council get their way over the right of other people!.If it was anyone else trying to get plannig permission it wouldn't be allowed!.This sort of intimidation should not go on in this day and age! |
| 219 | Anonymous | Surely the Council can create a design that incorporates this heritage landmark into their plans, or are we to see another monstrosity of a characterless "could be anywhere" shopping centre like Trostre Park. How about looking at how the Councils of places like Bath, Cheltenham, Ludlow and York manage their town planning designs? |

| 221 | Anonymous | Instead of making the town a Ghost Town why dont they leave the Islnd House alone and build around it
instead of moving everything out of town to Trostre Park |
| 222 | Sarah Ellum | Although I don't drink I am very concerned about the destruction of buildings of character such as yours.I would be willing to come into the pub and sign a paper petition if that would be taken more notice of. |
| 223 | Frances Johnstone | I wonder if the planning officers would be happy if they were to bulldoze all of Llanelli and start building a new town all over again? Parc Trostre is the 'IN PLACE' now, the place where I used to play on the swing tied to the tree and catch stickle backs with my brothers. The character of this lovely town has all gone. They will be wanting to move our Market next or turning Parc Howard into a night club. LEAVE THE ISLAND HOUSE STANDING, PLEASE! |
| 224 | Janice Thomas | Please keep this Landmark. |
| 225 | Anonymous | what reason can the idiotic council have for demolishing the only remaining and attractive old building in Llanelli? This old pub is a well known landmark which should be preserved and not subject to the whims of people who do not care about the character of Llanelli in their misguided ideas of progress. |
| 226 | Chris Williams | Once again Llanelli Council are in they're own
world and out of touch with what residents of the area want. They think they know best and as long as they're names appear on a plaque somewhere they're doing a good job.
The only thing they're doing is messing things up!! |
| 227 | Sian Thomas | I have lived in llanelli since birth i am now 48 redevelopment in the llanelli town has lost all it character and this is another one...........it should be kept. |
| 228 | Peter Jones | A message to the Regeneration Team at Carmarthenshire County Council. Leave the Island House alone, it's a fine pub and local landmark. Why not do something really useful and bring the town centre back to it's former glory, or is that a little too much to ask. As your title suggests...regenerate and be constructive....not destructive. |
| 229 | Martin Yeo | This demolition will finally destroy most links with the past. Looking through some old Llanelli photographs Island house is often the best reference point to know where you are in the bland landscape left. |
| 230 | Phillip Clark | Llanelli won't be the same without the Island house. We've already lost too many local landmarks, it's time to stop the rot. |
| 231 | c chapman | How many more things are they going to close and knock down before this council wake up???????? |
| 232 | JPD | This is a landmark of the town and should be saved for posterity.
Take a last look here.

| 234 | emily | dnt shut it down its part of llanelli |
| 235 | linda | Quick, let's take a photo of the Island House to put in the Market along with all the other photos ot the lost heritage of Llanelli! Maybe we can make up a photo album and display it in our public llibrary before the council sees fit to demolish that too. |
| 236 | mike | If the council decide not to demolish The Island House it could be the site of another Blue Plaque saying "This pub stands at the gateway of where Llanelii once stood" |
| 237 | llanelli | If you want to keep a photograph of the pub, please right click on the pub photo on the main page and save to your computer... |
| 238 | Gemma Nicholl | This pub has been here since before I can remember, I am fed up of the council removing things of importance to the townspeople just because it suits them. The people who decide what developments take place in our town are paid ridiculous amounts a year to do just that - develop it not demolish it. It is only laziness on their part that makes them decide to knock buildings down rather than take the time to incorporate them into their plans. Its a complete sham. This town will be unrecognisable in a few years time at this rate. |
| 239 | Anonymous | The centre of llanelli is dying and the council needs to address the closure of businesses in the town centre before any redevelopment of Park Street is started. If they intend to spend milions on the restoration of llanelli house then equal protection should br given to another of llanelli's historic buildings. |
| 240 | Kim Evana | lets help save a beatiful family pub, it adds charactor to llanelli and lets face it llanelli needs charactor! you got my vote all the way! |

| 242 | Jennifer Williams | Lovely landmark buildings should be treasured for posterity , not flattened for new boring characterless
shops. |

| 244 | Anonymous | Llanelli has lost its character over the years, instead of looking after our old building which would attract more people to the area, they have made a shamble of our town. I often wonder if the people in charge have any real interest in Llanelli, as it seems as if they are intent on making it a ghost town, at the same time removing any building that reminds us of our past. |
| 245 | Phil Morgan | |
| 246 | John Phelps | The Island House is part of the heritage of Llanelli and should be protected. This is a fine building and enhances the look of the area. |

| 250 | B Davies | It would be an absolute tragedy to lose another building of such character from our town in the interest of so called progress. |
