| 951 | helen coe | evidence from all over the globe shows that low risk women delivering at home are far more likely to have a normal birth, with less complications, less use of analgesia, less trauma, physically and psychologically, higher rates of breast feeding and all at a lower cost to the state. It's madness and unethical to remove this basic human right from a developed country. The USA which bans home birth now has a growing following of free birth (ie without a midwife) as a direct result of dictating 'what and where' care can be received. The women and midwives of Ireland deserve and demand a healthier choice of birthing options. |
| 952 | H. Martin | the introduction of hospital births has done nothing to improve the infant mortality rate in low risk women. It's a safe option and totally wonderful in the hands of an experienced midwife. Lets not loose the skills and options that an independent midwife brings. |

| 966 | Mary Madden | By removing the Midwives insurance you are limiting the choice of women. Women have the right to choose the service that best suits them. Do not remove the insurance cover to Independent Midwives |

| 971 | Ciara Corcoran | As a mother of a 14 month old baby, I had the best experience of my life when my daugher was born with the help of an angel , otherwise known as an Indpendent midwife!
Please have respect for the profession, mothers and human life by keeping the option to insure independent midwives |

| 975 | Petrina Finn | I am a member of a post natal support group and feel it is imperative that there are insured independent midwives working in the community to ensure that mothers and their partners are given the right to a choice of a home birth. |

| 980 | Kim Eustace | it is our right as a family and as irish citizens to choose to have our baby in the comfort and safety of our home along with a professionally trained midwife...i am sick of money always being put first in this country...its time to put the people first... |

| 989 | Judith Eve-Marie Luce, LM,CPM | I've been an independent midwife for 32 years (working without insurance because there was none) and I appreciate how difficult it is for midwives to work without it. I hope they reconsider. |
| 990 | Gillian Dunlop | As a woman who has been lucky enough to have 4 homebirths with the same fantastic midwife, I strongly wish that all women should have this birthing option. Despite all the evidence to show the safety and advantages of domiciliary birth for both mothers and babies, the powers that be continue to try to prevent it. |
| 991 | Karen Mulryan | I had a homebirth for my first baby on the 11th December 2007 and found it to be the best experience and I have a wonderful baby boy who is so calm and very healthy.
Thanks. |

| 998 | Christine Barto | Homebirth attended by independent midwives is safe and economical. Women should have all options available to them during the childbearing year. |

| 1000 | Veronica Falcao | Here in the United States, we have seen the devastating consequences of moving away from midwifery care--an increased rate of infant mortality, maternal mortality and morbidity. Please do not take this same path. Do whatever is necessary to support a vibrant midwifery profession and choices for birthing families. |
