Comments: The grocery stores are eager to sell the stuff, so why shouldn't they then be responsible enough to help clean up their mess

Comments: most of the stores complaining about returned bottles were build well after the bottle bill passed. They should have planned appropriately

Comments: I would also like to see the deposit fee be significantly increased to 25-50 cents (or more) per container to make people more motivated to return them. I do not feel this would affect the sales of beverages. Like gasoline, people will become used to the fee and pay for what they want, whether it be driving or drinking.

Comments: If you ever went to Indiana, where they didn't have a bottle bill when I lived there, you would know exactly what's going to happen if Iowa doesn't hang on to a good idea: "the world is my ashtray", and soon there will be more glass than grass. And from one who used to pick up cans for cigarette money, I think we'd be making a big mistake there. More trash in the landfills and the bottlers get away with even more polution. Do the right thing.

Comments: Require sellers to also collect returns, NOT contract to a 3rd party to do the bottle redemtion. Now, the nearest redemption to my house is 3 miles at WalMart using a machine. I have started buying in Nebraska and throwing the empties in the garbage. Making it more difficult to redeem bottles will cause many people to discard them instead of returning. The grocers association is mostly behind this. They tried to get rid of the law a couple of years ago, citing a safety issue to their workers. Are there any reported health issues directly related to bottle collections
