Comments: In light of so much degradation to our environment over the past decades, it may seem almost trivial to pursue something as simple as this Bill. However, as I look around me at street gutters, in parks and parking lots, and reading about how much trash is generated by affluent Americans (which has to go somewhere), we MUST get this done!

Comments: Please expand the bottle bill to include all of those kinds of containers that did not exist when the law was passed. Increase the fee paid to redemption centers to 2 cents and maintain the current system for redeeming containers.

Comments: The Grocers have had 26 years to address their concerns about health and sanitation. I am sure the real reason is that there is no "profit" in it for them to be environmentally minded.

Comments: Given the absence of a coherent energy policy in the US., States are left to save energy as best they can. The bottle bill does that. The bottle bill provides employment. The bottle bill helps keep the environment clean. The only problem is that the current statute doesn't collect a high enough re- demption fee, nor does it include all recyclable containers. Let's do it!

Comments: When first implemented, I remember that the Bottle Bill dramatically made cans and bottles disappear immediately from Iowa roadsides, streets, and other locations. It was an instant success and remains such 30 years later. The simple principle remains: If you sell the bottles and cans, you have to take them back. The grocer lobby is only interested in making as much money as they can, and trying to break that compact with consumers--if they sell bottles and cans (and make money from it) they have to take them back (and bear some of the cost of selling the bottles and cans).

Comments: I am a full supporter of recycling and want the bottle bill to continue on and be expanded. I wish it was easier to recycle for the average person! We have a system in place that has worked but we need to make it better. More garbage in the landfills is not the answer and having a deposit fee the same amount for the last, at least 20 years, is not the answer.
