Can someone tell me why there is no action from the government and or no movement from the public about the mining and selling of my online usage? Are we all just going to stand by and let these major companies harvest our curiosities and musings? I understand some will say if you aren't doing anything wrong. What is the problem with marketers and social sites making money off of me? Well for one. You aren't getting any of that money they are making. And second, you have just turned yourself into a commodity and sold yourself for nothing. I think if these companies really want to take my data and make money off of it. I should also be able to collect some funds (or be given a share) by way of accepting their policies. If I choose not to have my personal information bartered and traded, I should still be able to use a search engine such as Goohoo which has made itself an integral part of the internet. By this I mean such companies should give you two choices. One that is claimed to help you do things faster and more direct. And another that is the old way of doing things without looking at my data and trying to guess what I am looking for. I happen to like wading through all of the random suggestions. I may find something I haven't thought about in this way. My searches and use of the internet is personal to me and should not be made into a tool for some company to track, market and or direct things at me. Nor should my information be used to enrich someone without my permission. I should also not be force except these tracking devices in order to get to certain sites. have we exchange the free flow of information for the it will cost you now plan? So please. If you feel it is important to keep your privacy and not have your personal searches and explorations passed around like you are just another cog and most are logged for your own good. Please sigh this petition and let's get this turned around.
