Aleya JohnInadequate notice was given to residents by the City of Vancouver. Information was released i n a way that made it impossible for residents to understand what the City was planning in time for residents to vote for or against the development of 1050 Expo Blvd.

PRIYA JOHNAs an owner of a flat on Cambie St, I don't support the building project at 1050 Expo Bvld and have received nothing from the City of Vancouver.
Paul HughesThe is a very sneaky, back handed and anti democratic attempt at ramrodding through an approval that the City, the elected officials and the city technocrats are afraid to deal with properly. Shameful. However stick handled this scam should be fired.

Dragan KrsmanovicDear John Greer, We live in Vancouver, at 1018 Cambie Street where we own a condo. Recently we read the memo called “Development application DEA412190” and we were terrified when we learned that you are planning to build housing for several hundreds homeless, drug addicts and mentally ill people right in our neighborhood. Even though we sympathize with those less fortunate and ill, what gives the city right to build objects like this in the CORE of Downtown ? Not everyone can afford to live in Downtown, so why do they have that privilege to live cheep? By doing that the city is ecouraging drug addicts and homelesses to continue irresponsible kind of living, instead of cutting them sources of drugs and facing, majority of them, with criminal charges! On the other way, city is saying ""o.k use drugs , become homeless , you will have new affordale housing in the middle of Olympic city, Vancouver" ... It's outrageous! You want to spend taxpayers’ money to bring drugs into our neighborhood? We are parents and we do not wish to fear for our child more than we have to!!! We do not want to see drug addicts right in front of our building, because – where the addicts are, there must be the drug dealers too!!! We do not want to hear police raids right below our balconies, or to listen / watch obscenities as if we lived on Seymour or Granville Street! We do not want to see them breaking into garbage bins, and trashing our parking! Our neighborhood is safe, quiet and these were the key factors we had in mind when we bought our condo! We certainly hope to keep it that way. We strongly oppose your project – building of “127 Society for Housing” at 1050 Expo Blvd!!! Have your affordable housing for mentally ill / drug addicts / homeless people elsewhere! I am sure that good people of Kerrisdale, or Southlands would not let you have them in their midst! Please, take your affordable housing for homeless people elsewhere, away from our children and their playgrounds! Keep them awaw from town, 'cause there will be safer for us and them also! Sincerely, Dragan and Cveta Krsmanovic #503-1018 Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC Tel: 604-683-4136
AnonymousI believe the residents of this neighbourhood all agree that mixed uses and a diverse population is a positive thing. However, this applies to income assisted projects, not mass social housing for addicts. Did the City consider West Vancouver or British Properties for this development? I doubt it!

Sam Shahhell no! This will have a negative impact on: businesses, crime, and most of all real estate prices in Yaletown.

Kevin LeeAny where close to where stadiums and families go is NOT the place to put social housing. Yaletown is known to be a good neighborhood. People pay a premium to live in this area and it will be all wrecked by these kind of stupid decisions. I would rather spend ten dollars and get the homeless a bus ticket to another location not in the area of medium to upper class living.
Glenn TaylorWhile low income housing needs to be built, this proposal as laid out and the process that is being followed to build it, is a waste of precious land set aside for the housing of low income people. There are already issues with street people, etc and our tourists. Yaletown is a tourist destination.

AnonymousI find this news very troubling and had not heard about it until I read a newsletter (which was not published by the city). If I knew about these plans I would have never bought a place at a premium price right next to this location. This is not fair treatment of the current residents.

James HathwayAlthough I acknowledge the need for social housing the greater impact on the yaletown area will be significant. Tourist travel to Vancouver to see specific areas of the city, one of which is Yaletown and having such a development right in the heart of this district will in time negatively impact on this beautiful, world renowned area of the city.

Bryan LumI am opposed to the development of the mental illness institution being proposed for 1050 Expo blvd. Being an owner in multiple yaletown locations and a resident, It does not belong in yaletown.
Emma HathwayPeople visit vancouver and especially yaletown because of its atmosphere and environment, such a development as proposed above would seriously and negatively impact this important part of the local community and economy. is this not being openly discussed?

AnonymousThis development will deteriorate the community environment of the area and increase the possibility of crime. It will create a negative impact to the surrounding neighbourhood and cause more problems than it is helping.
