Re: Installation of stop signs on Hicks Street in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, NY 11231 We the undersigned request that Brooklyn Community Board #6 (CB6), and related agencies and elected officials, advocate on behalf of the residents in CB6's district, including Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill, to the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) for the installation of stop signs on Hicks Street. While there are currently several street lights on Hicks Street between Hamilton and Atlantic Avenue, there is enough distance between the lights that cars are able to accelerate to high speeds before being required to stop. An increase in pedestrian and car traffic in the area has created hazardous conditions for pedestrians and drivers in the area. Several car related accidents have occurred in the past 12-18 months and we are calling for the immediate remediation of the unsafe conditions along this stretch of road. We are recommending the installation of a 2 new stop signs to the DOT: >One sign on the northern approach towards Atlantic Avenue at Woodhull Street >One sign on the northern approach towards Atlantic Avenue between Degraw Street and Kane Street
