Tony BrownI'm a 49 year old white man. I don't live in the US, but my daughter who does. The thought that she could be wrongfully convicted and sentenced to die for a crime she didn't commit in a country that never misses the opportunity to proclaim its moral superiority would keep me up at night but for the fact that she's white and, therefore, unlikely to suffer Troy's fate. Shame on Georgia for not even pretending to care about innocence and justice for all. I pray that the US Supreme Court gets that innocence matters. What kind of world do we live in that we should find comfort in not being black? When we evolve? God help us.
Tony BrownI am a 49 year old white man. I do not live in the US, but my daughter does. The idea that she could be wrongfully convicted and executed for a crime that she did not commit in a country that never misses the opportunity to proclaim its moral superiority would cause me to lose sleep but for the fact that she's white and, thus, unlikely to suffer Troy's fate! What kind of world do we live in that we still benefit from not being black? Shame on GA for not even pretending that innocence and justice for all matters! Hopefully, the US Supreme Court will rise to the occasion and recognize that innocence always matters to the innocent..

Carlos SabaterThese injustices towards the innocent are detrimental to their sanity and it affects society as a whole when eventually the innocence are proven such. I urge you as a member of Rights for Imprisoned People with Psychiatric Disabilities to ensure justice and allow the psychological wounds created by this case an opportunity to heal society is shocked due to this case.

Camelia BakerFree Troy Davis! STOP the nonsense, give this man the new trail that he deserves. Stop punishing people for crimes that they did not commit. Troy Davis deserves to have justice. STOP THE NONSENSE GEORGIA!!!
AnonymousWhat if it wasn't him? Shouldn't he at least get another trial for an ineffective assistance of counsel claim for allowing all of this eyewitness stuff in without question? A man I know just wrongly identified a person of a different race than himself and didn't even realize it. He actually knew the person he spoke to and just thought she was someone else he expected that day. The guy is a lawyer too. Eyewitness identification can be wrong even in the best circumstances. Eyewitness identification shouldn't be enough to kill a man in a case like this one.

denise lehockiI hope justice means something and he gets treated fairly. It's a sad day when rules and regulation are more important than human life, TRUTH, or making the cops look incompetent! Sounds like the TRUTH was buried by LOTS of people (even the REAL perpetrator) and everyone is in denial about what REALLY happened.

JakeI can only imagine the pain and suffering this injustice has brought to Troy's family. Their strength and perseverance in their nineteen year battle to find justice for Troy is inspiring. How is it that those in power cannot see the pain they are causing to these good people? My prayers are with Troy and his family.
AnonymousNo other than innocence matters and should be handled accordingly.
AnonymousInnocence should matter to absolutely everyone. Our country is founded on freedom, democracy & the people. Locking someone up & refusing to investigate any amount of evidence that may possibly exonerate him is absurd & is NOT a way to protect the people. We are hurting the people. Troy Davis is a person. We owe it to him & to all of us to investigate.
matt griffitha fair trial by a jury of one's peers is a founding block of a strong democracy. when the decision of a man's life rest in the hands of a few corrupt individuals, we open up the possibility that any of us at any time can be removed from participating in the democracy. if one believes that people should have control over their lives, then s/he must support, encourage, and ensure the pilars of democratic institutions.

Amanda WingateIt is appalling that an innocent man could be executed because of a refusal to give him the just and fair trial he deserves. We cannot have a just society if it is selectively meted out. The State of Georgia must give Troy Anthony Davis his trial, otherwise they risk killing an innocent man.

Elizabeth GoldbergWe are not Hobbes' irrational brutes, but we are also not Rousseau's clean slate. Innocence matters to me because I care and seek to live in a country that believes in justice, not revenge or savagery.
Simon ChiuInnocence matters because we can't just blindly label everyone guilty for no reason. It is wrong. If there is a a reason for being guilty, there is also a reason for being innocent.
Anastasia GillInnocence matters because the world holds the U.S. to a higher standard. In this country we say, "innocent until proven guilty" and it would be extremely hypocritical to execute someone who has not been proven guilty.
Rose HessIf we do not uphold the tenant "Innocent until proven guilty" then the system becomes corupt and falls apart. If evidence is mounting for his innoncence and witness are confessing to coercion, this case must be tried again. As a new Law Student this is fundamental to my faith in the system.
Claire OwensIt is for cases like this that the United States needs to abolish the death penalty altogether.

AnonymousInnocent people should not be put to death.
William Paul Shadel
Alison OnianwaHow can innocence and injustice NOT matter to anyone? When innocence is buried under prejudice and a seeming inability to acknowledge and admit to gross erros by law enforcement - it is a sad reflection of America today that innocence matters less and less.
Sue TravisInnocent Americans must be able to enjoy the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution; they must not be executed!
Eric ThompsonInnocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is what protects us as citizens from overzealous police and prosecutors. The courts need to vindicate that right when credible evidence demonstrates that a defendant's verdict was based on false testimony and an incompetent defense. All the more so in a capital murder case.
AnonymousInnocence, is a matter of freedom. Without freedom, we are nothing.
