| # | Name | Tell us why innocence matters to you |
|---|
| 501 | Anonymous | Innocent people are being killed. |
| 502 | Anonymous | Innocent until proven guilty. |
| 503 | Marissa Tasho | Troy is not the only person who has been wrongly convicted and spent countless years in prison, if we can get justice for one person, there is hope for others. |
| 504 | Anonymous | Justice should matter to everyone |
| 505 | craig hampson | because i have a son and troy davis is someones son.
we also need to make sure people can have faith restored in the justice system which i think is lacking at presnt |
| 506 | Anna Buchbauer | Innocence until proven guilty. |
| 507 | Marci R. Schneider | It's the operational viability of the justice system in question regarding Mr. Davis' case. Has the justice system worked for Mr. Davis or is it broken?
If the justice system fails Mr. Davis, it fails for us all. If the "new" evidence/situations will not be reviewed by those within the system...
There is NO innocence for any of us; the justice system is broken...it is no longer viable. |
| 508 | Michael Kelly | Presumption of innocence is a bedrock principle of our justice system. If there is any shadow of a doubt of guilt the ultimate penalty of death should not be applied. |
| 509 | Raiza Castro | It a matter of reputation and credibility. Who wants their lives and good name ruined because of being wrongly accused. Be strong Mr. Davis! God Bless. |
| 510 | Lenore | freedom and democracy require justice. |
| 511 | Anonymous | Any one of us could be wrongfully accused. The judicial system needs to work correctly without false accusations hindering the apprention and prosecution of the real murderer. |
| 512 | Anna M. Kaczmarski | If innocence is not defended innocent people will be tried and executed. We become victims of persons who falsely set themselves up as arbiters/gods. |
| 513 | BRENDA GORDON | if we don't stand up for the innocent, who will?
NEXT TIME IT MAY BE ONE OF US!!! |
| 514 | Anonymous | i don't believe in the death penalty. No man has the right to take another man's life. "An eye for an eye" is not a rationale, sane way to live in a civilized society. |
| 515 | Stephanie Massa | justice |
| 516 | David Laster | No man or woman should be condemned without full consideration of all the facts presented. To proceed with any type of punishment, let alone the death sentence, every effort should be made to ensure that an innocent person is not the victim of our legal system. |
| 517 | Doris Narvell | I abhor injustice! |
| 518 | James D. Spellman | Our Constitution protects the innocent. One is innocent until proven guilty. |
| 519 | Anonymous | Our justice system should be an example to others and it's not anymore if innocence does not matter. |
| 520 | Margaret McFadden | Innocence matters to me because research shows that 20 percent of capital punishment victims are innocent.Until you have evidence against TROY Davis, please protect him from execution. |
| 521 | Anonymous | To be innocence is not having guilt or being guilty of a crime or sin. So why should you or anyone be charged falsely if he or she is innocent. |
| 522 | Kenneth E. Rich | Sometimes in the justice system, people get scape-goated in order to satisfy an appetite for vengence- a knee-jerk, but ineffective way to fill a hole left by loss. A better way, I think, is through truth, compassion, and mercy. Certainly, I think it is wrong to put someone to death, someone who may very well be innocent, out of vengence. I do not believe in "eye for eye" "justice". I think it is immature and dangerous. |
| 523 | Allison Smith | Free Troy! |
| 524 | Christa Tinsley | Innocence matters because justice matters! |
| 525 | Evelyn Danks | All life is important. Justice is not served by death. |
| 526 | John Cassidy | State sponserd murder of an innocet man is wrong. Duh. |
| 527 | Niina Vartiainen | The only reason to kill anyone or thing is pity. NEVER hate, anger, doubt or byrocratics. |
| 528 | andrew rigsby | unfortunately our system of justice penalizes the poor and under-represented, the system needs to change so that all people have the same rights under the law, not those with the most money. |
| 529 | Leslie Smith | Wrong is wrong. I see this far too often in my work. Step up, admit it, and let him go. |
| 530 | alessandra cambatzu | i think no one can kill a human being |
| 531 | Abigail Wihl | Innocence matters because no one should be put do death at the hands of another person. |
| 532 | Anonymous | Innocence matters because if it didn't matter, the court would be useless. Because the main functions of the organization is to maintain the innocence of those innocent and punish those who are guilty, for the sake of maintaining order. So, put Troy Davis in jail and leave a real killer out on the streets and you'll be turning the entire court system backwards, and rendering innocence frivolous. And if innocence is frivolous, then the Supreme Court of the United States is no longer working to maintain order in society, and thus is useless.
The Supreme Court has neglected to address the one question that matters and would actually bring them closer to the truth: why were nine "eyewitnesses" so compelled to testify against an innocent man? Those seven witnesses who recanted are the people that need to be spoken to--about who's putting them up to this.
The fact the we even have to ask ourselves why innocence matters is tragic. |
| 533 | Tony Feccia | Although I think we have one of the best legal systems in the world, I have heard enough stories like this to know that the incompetence and self interest of police and prosecutors is an issue in some criminal cases. When a man's life is at stake, nothing short of absolute proof is required to arrive at a conviction and this case seems lacking in that requirement. |
| 534 | Patsy K. Fields | Every person in the United States of America deserves the chance to prove his/or/her innocence.
This is a principle that our country was founded on.
It is also the right thing to do. Troy has not been given this chance. |
| 535 | Tracey | There is no evidence against Mr. Davis. I would not want my family members railroaded this way. |
| 536 | Gary Fields | I believe Troy is an innocent man. He should be given the chance to prove his innocence. |
| 537 | Margaret M. Savage | Innocence matters because everyone must be given a fair and honest hearing. |
| 538 | Anonymous | As a nation we are supposed to be committed to the rights of the individual person. When a person is falsely accused of a crime he/she has the right to be defended. I totally support that right. Troy Davis was never given that right. |
| 539 | Daniel Bleier | Because guilt is too often determined in order to place blame and make others feel better rather than find the correct person responsible for the crime. |
| 540 | Laurie Bergner | innocent people should not be killed! |
| 541 | Debra Greenwood | I am not one to generally get involved in these matters. But, it seems pretty clear to me that Troy Davis is an innocent man who is being PERSECUTED by the criminal justice system. How can arbitrary deadlines and cut-off dates trump evidence of innocence? |
| 542 | Robert Patrick | This is a punishment that cannot be undone. There is far too much doubt, too many questions, for this execution to proceed. I do not think that execution is ever the appropriate punishment even for one who is incontrovertibly guilty. Troy Davis is not even close to this. Stop this excecution. |
| 543 | Michele Queyroy | Is somebody totally lacking sense to ask for a statement about innocence? |
| 544 | John S. Adamski | As every human being, Troy Davis deserves respect and the dignity of justice. |
| 545 | Rene Olivera | It is the backbone of the American dream. As a role model for the rest of the world, we need to have a fair justice system in place. With that said, we MUST learn to admit our mistakes as well and not murder innocent people. |
| 546 | Nancy Jacobsen | I want to believe that justice is real and not political.
I have met Troy Davis and believe in his innocence. |
| 547 | M. Deborah Millette | Justice is only served when the guilty are punished and the innocent are freed. |
| 548 | Anonymous | I am demanding the Troy Davis be given another tiial in light of the new evidence and surrounding circumstances. It is clear to me that the State of Georgia and the powers that be, are not interested in the possibility that Troy Davis may be innocent. If Troy Davis is in fact innocent and is put to death by the State of Georgia, then that would make the State of Georgia a MURDERER. |
| 549 | Lawrence Soublet | I would like to see the death penalty eliminated altogether. The Troy Davis case is e perfect example of why it should be eliminated; aperson should not be facing death simply because of a time lapse technicality! |
| 550 | Anonymous | I know that only the LOrd Jeus Christ knows the truth. NO one should e punished for something that they did not do. I am praying. |
