Comments: flight risk should not be used as an escuse to keep Oyet in jail. He doesn't have anywhere to flee to. Oyet does not even know his way around in Nigeria(his native country)the much he knows his way around here in the United state. OYET LOVES UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Comments: I was present at Obode's bond hearing on March 5, 2002. It was supposed to be a simple hearing requesting that his bond be reduced from $2 million to the same amount all the other defendants in this alledged fraud ring ($250,000). The whole courtroom was filled with pastors, lawyers, architects and other professionals who came to testify re: Obode's character and integrity. It should have been clear that this man had standing in the community and was not a flight risk. He is certainly NOT a criminal! Instead of a simple bond hearing the prosecution began to attempt to search for other 'assets' and interrogated each witness in an obvoius attempt to fish for evidence. The only evidence the prosecution had was the verbla tesinmony of the one woman who had been arrested in Obode's store. HE IS THE ONE WHO CALLED THE POLICE and had her arrested! I also could not fathom why the judge could not make a decision that day, and instead continued this charade the next day. This judge delayed his decison several times before fianlly deciding over a week later to NOT reduce the bond. This unrealistically high bond flies in the face of our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. This judge needs to be removed from this case becasue he has shown a personal bias against Obode based on his comments that were recorded in both the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and the Miami Herald. There is no reason whatsover that Obode should be held in jail while he awaits his trial. He should at least be able to at home with his wife and daughter during this time that he is preparing to defend himself against these fraudulent charges. This abuse of power makes me sick and ashamed that this can happen in the USA.

Comments: It's hard to say we can feel what Bode and His family are going through, but I do know Jesus knows and He Understands. We know that He will not allow a temptation or trial we cannot handle come our way and with the testimonies we are hearing of Bode in incaceration we know it is well.We are further comforted with the promise that with each trial He already prepared a route of escape even with the temptation. My message to Bode is that it is well and shortly the truth will prevail.I have confidence in God and in our judicial system.Bode shall be free and justified.

Comments: This is a very sad story. This is just another case of a black man being wrongfully accused of crimes he didn't commit by a racist judicial system that has made it their number one priority to lock up ALL black men in America.
