| 1918 | Jodie Andefski | This is necessary and should have been done much sooner. How many children have to die before we stand up, count the cost, and actually do something about it? Congressmen...what if it was YOUR child? Would you be more willing then? |

| 1941 | alice & neil mcdonnell | this is very very important legislation that must be put into law. our children areour future and we must take every precaution necessary to ensure their safety..please support the cameron gubransen kids and cars safety act of 2007 .. |

| 1947 | Christopher Allen | I just received a phone call that a friends 8 month old baby boy was killed yesterday 10/18/07 backed over by a SUV in Queens NY. It is not only unbelievable, but we should be ashamed that as a society so technologically advanced we let this tragedy continue on almost a daily basis. Write your representatives, write your car companies, write your local papers, write the TV stations where the car companies advertise, write your stories for all to read. I write this in tears thinking of the pain that my friend will endure for the rest of her life, surely not understanding how truly devastating this is.
Until this is a law I urge everyone to back into your driveways. The risk of injuring or killing a small child is significantly reduced when you pull up to your driveway which requires you to be looking at the surrounding area to assess if anyone or anything is in your path before backing in to the driveway. When leaving your driveway all of your attention is automatically focused on the area in front of the car thereby significantly reducing the chance of running someone over. Furthermore, take the 30 seconds it requires to walk around the vehicle to double check for any little ones; it just may save you and others a lifetime of sorrow, grief, and guilt.
Legislation will likely not require the retrofitting of previously manufactured vehicles, so please for god’s sake, be careful, back into your driveways or parking spots, and always double check for little ones. |
