Name: Big Time Fan on Mar 12, 2004State: NDCountry: CAComments: Tony has ruined Indianapolis already by letting NASCAR on the track, by alienating half of the american ow racing community, and by letting engine manufacturers and big teams drive up the cost of racing in the IRL. I say that tony should be removed from his position at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, removed from his position in the IRL, and replaced by someone who really cares about the tradition and the legend of Indianapolis. Tony only cares about his ego and his image....at the expense of the sport and the event we all once loved.Flag

Name: Gary Cecil on Mar 15, 2004State: INCountry: USComments: My father took me to my first 500 as a boy in 1986, I was smitten. I had listen for years on the radio to both qualifying and the race before that, it was larger than life. Since then my father and I have not missed a 500 in 17 years,as well as, attended every Brickyard 400 and F1 race since their inception. It took my father several years of trying to get yearly tickets, having been up-graded several times. While the Brickyard and F1 are fine races at arguably the finest racing facility in the world, neither of those races stir my soul like the 500. Race day for the 500 at Indianapolis is my favorite day of the whole year, no exceptions , not even Christmas. I get chills just driving by the place and think how fortunate I am to live 20 minutes drive from the greatest race in the world. It is truely hallowed ground. I've traveled quite a bit though my career and when the language barrier becomes an issue, I just say Indianapolis. They may not know where it is on a map but they know the name. I'm sure my experience is shared by many other people. I find it very disheartening to hear the prospects of not having 33 cars for the 05 500. The flying start of 33 is an icon of not just motor sports but all sports. The suggetion of only having one qualifying weekend also disturbs me, as Indianapolis is the month of May. Please, Mr. George don't change the landscape of the 500. For everything that has changed in motorsports since I've been following as a kid , the Indianapolis 500 has been a rock of stability taking a world war to disrupt that steadfastness. When I'm in the stands hearing "Back home in Indiana", taps, "start you engines", and 33 cars screaming down the frontstretch for the flying start, I know all is right with the world. Dedicated and Passionate Indianapolis Race Fan Gary S Cecil, Jr.Flag

Name: Lyle Tupper on Mar 15, 2004State: KYCountry: CAComments: I don't want 33 cars. I can't keep track of them, and they all crash. 20 is just fine for me, so I hope it will be that many, maybe a few more, but not 33. I'm not able to follow that damn many!Flag
