Name: Mark Anderson on Nov 6, 2012Comments: The indoor soccer league is what initially brought me to Steamboat over other options for the winter season. And, as captain of the winning team two years running, I would be greatly remissed to not have the opportunity to add another "Season Champ" t-shirt to the collection. On a serious note, everyone I have encountered through the league has been extremely respectful of the gymnasium. It's a great way to meet people, get out and exercise, play the sport we love, and a great alternative to the bars. Please allow us to keep playing!Flag

Name: Jerry Buelter on Nov 6, 2012Comments: Ben I tried to send a rather lenghthy response but for some reason, your contact the Petition Sponsor did not send. I am surprised by some of the petitioners--in particular those involved with youth soccer. We have supported many of you, and your teams in the past including opening the building several days each spring--at no cost--for an organizational meeting for coaches and teams. The middle school opens its doors for youth baseball, basketball, volleyball as well as youth soccer. We support boys and girls scouts, youth orchestra, SOS w/Partners. We had over 1000 participants of Girls on the Run in the building this past weekend and will have as many this weekend at the Ski Swap benefit for Winter Sports Club. We support adult volleyball and basketball and have opened up the possibility of other adult recreation activities (dodge ball for example). If one thinks we do not do enough for the community, ask one of my three custodians how open I am to outside groups. My primary fiscal responsibility is to the 500+ students and staff members here at SSMS. I have to ensure that the building that serves as their school is clean and safe. Am I wrong in assuming that this is my charge from the tax paying public? We have had ongoing discussions with Parks and Rec for several years. Our talks this spring, ended with the notice adult indoor soccer would not take place this coming school year at the middle school. We spoke again during the summer as well as a couple of times this fall. If this came as a surprise, it was of no fault of the school. Hopefully, the league will be able to find another place that will better suit the needs of the all involved. Respectfully, Jerry BuelterFlag

Name: Leslie Hunt on Nov 6, 2012Comments: Please find a solution to allow indoor soccer for both adults and children this winter. Both my girls go to school within the district, 1 is @ SSMS. They really enjoyed doing indoor soccer last year and were already planning on doing it again this year. Please don't take away an affordable alternative for my kids this winter. Thank you, Leslie HuntFlag

It's these kinds of programs that make Steamboat, well, Steamboat.Flag
