Comments: I am disappointed to hear that the school board is considering closing down the gym use for indoor soccer in the winter months. Many of the users are parents of students and have supported numerous tax increases to provide excellent facilities for our student body. In most instances governing bodies are trying to extend the use of their facilities to lower the over all per hour use cost. I find it hard to believe that there is not a way for the public use of the gym to pay for its own time. As a soccer coach and strong proponent of soccer at all age levels, I think the decision to shut down evening public use of the gym will have a negative effect on the public's view of the board's willingness to support the community, as the community has supported the board.

Comments: My son really enjoys the indoor soccer league in the off season. It gives the kids a great opportunity to bone up on their skills when the weather won't cooperate. His team one first place last year. He couldn't quit smiling.

Comments: Please reconsider closing the SSMS gym to indoor soccer. This is a great program that promotes exercise, socialization and personal development for all ages.

Comments: Really what we need is an indoor field house. Baby steps...but don't take away a winter activity...not everyone can ski all winter.Former Student, Mother of two children

Comments: It is very important for our kids to be able to play soccer indoors in the winter. They are at a disadvantage to other teams who get to play year round.

Comments: I have lived in Steamboat for 15 years. I am a business owner, soccer player, and soccer coach. I will be very disappointed if doors are closed to middle school since my tax dollars go to help fund the building and much more. Thanks for reconsidering.

Comments: As a newcomer to Steamboat, the indoor soccer program was fundamental to my initiation of the Steamboat culture. I quickly understood that community sports were a large part of the culture and a great way to make friends. If we loose this program we will loose a part of Steamboat's identity.

Comments: As a observer I have watched many groups of different types of people come together in these games...seasonal workers, life-long residents, Spanish speakers, young people right out of high school. etc. There is little to do in this town in the evening except go to bars or drink. It is critical that we provide what we can for all types of people. This is one way that you get popular support for our schools from people who do not have children in school. Keep the gyms open!
