Name: Bo Stempel on Nov 5, 2012Comments: I am disappointed to hear that the school board is considering closing down the gym use for indoor soccer in the winter months. Many of the users are parents of students and have supported numerous tax increases to provide excellent facilities for our student body. In most instances governing bodies are trying to extend the use of their facilities to lower the over all per hour use cost. I find it hard to believe that there is not a way for the public use of the gym to pay for its own time. As a soccer coach and strong proponent of soccer at all age levels, I think the decision to shut down evening public use of the gym will have a negative effect on the public's view of the board's willingness to support the community, as the community has supported the board.Flag

I will be very disappointed if doors are closed to middle school since my tax dollars go to help fund the building and much more. Thanks for reconsidering.Flag

I quickly understood that community sports were a large part of the culture and a great way to make friends. If we loose this program we will loose a part of Steamboat's identity.Flag

Name: Gayle Dudley on Nov 6, 2012Comments: As a observer I have watched many groups of different types of people come together in these games...seasonal workers, life-long residents, Spanish speakers, young people right out of high school. etc. There is little to do in this town in the evening except go to bars or drink. It is critical that we provide what we can for all types of people. This is one way that you get popular support for our schools from people who do not have children in school. Keep the gyms open!Flag
