This petition is restricted to Indiana public school teachers who have ever been awarded the honor of building Teacher of the Year.

By signing this petition, we Indiana public school Teachers of the Year hereby object to the following Bills being considered in the Indiana General Assembly: Indiana SB (Senate Bill) 575 (collective bargaining),  Indiana HB (House Bill) 1337 (collective bargaining), HB 1002 (charter schools), SB 001 (evaluations), SB 1 (due process), HB 1260 (insurance cuts), and  SB 551 (retirement  plan changes). We believe that the passage of these bills will not only deter teachers from wanting to work in low-performing schools, but also induce a mass exodus of talented veteran Indiana teachers from their profession altogether. Furthermore, the passage of these bills will reduce the number of talented young teachers willing to look for teaching jobs in Indiana in the first place. As esteemed public school teachers in the state of Indiana, we have no doubt that these bills, if passed, will hurt both teachers and students alike.
