Name: Arvind Patel on Feb 28, 2013Comments: This is unacceptable and amounts to rip off as it cannot be justified in comparison to other developing and common wealth countries. It may be in violation to human rights, certainly in terms of morality. Issue must be addressed fairly and reasonably rather than just picking the UK or US citizens with close family ties in India. Most of them have to support their extended families, for example, their parents and other close family members or friends for whatever reasons. It also discourages second and third generation NRIs to closely develop and maintain close tie with their Indian culture – and will be a great loss to India in longer term.Flag

Name: Pavan Singh on Mar 1, 2013Comments: Shocking. I note that British nationals charged this extortionate fee while most of other countries would pay £42.20. Why the discrimination? It hits those with ancestral ties to India the hardest. I'm going to see my elderly grandmother but the rest of family will now stay here as too expensive for all to travel. It is bad for family connections and makes no business sense either - less people will travel to India and spend less in India's economy. This crazy pricing will lose you wealth long term - please reconsider this huge fee.Flag

This 120% increase in Visa fees will affect tourist industry of India as British Citizens of not Indian origin will who wish to tour India may not be willing pay out the sudden increase in Visa fees and decide not to visit IndiaFlag

Name: Anonymous Facebook user on Mar 4, 2013Comments: Whilst I agree there is justification for a slight increase due to rising staffing costs but a straight more than 100% increase in fees is frankly preposterous. I urge you to re-think the fee increase as I hope common sense will prevail.Flag

I visit India once a year and will now go to Thailand holiday from now on where its visa free for 30 days. India has not increased fees for the rest of Europe so i feel its an attack on Britain and normal hard working families who to love visit the wonderful country of India. Very sad day..Matt. (UK)Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 26, 2013Comments: I wholly oppose to increase as we British asians benifit to India when visiting. we infact contribute to indian economy by way of tourism and huge amount spent on shopping for occasions. The increase should be measured with inflation in uk not the way it is imposed. To obtain visa consider the cost of getting one on top of visa fees. At least £110 to £120 per visa. That is nearly10,000 rupees.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 8, 2013Comments: This is an unacceptable increase and totally unwarranted. It will discourage people from visiting the country. India should be promoting the growth of tourism not deterring it! Indian nationals in particular who go regularly to vist family and friends will be put off by the high cost. They will be unable to maintain valuable links to their motherland. I think this is disgraceful increase and on top of the difficulty in getting a visa is a very poor reflection on the Indian government and its attitude to visitors who actually benefit the economy with their expenditure. There is no reason to do this other than exploit people.Flag

Name: Dianne Reynard on Apr 26, 2013Comments: The British have been visiting India for century's and have had good relations between each other both in India and Britain, The amount of Indians that reside in Britain outweighs the English visitors to India this is an insult as no other country has had this hike in there visas. Or is this a message to the British you are no longer welcome?Flag
