In this day and age, 1/3 of the population is obese. Things such as advertisements and doctors are promoting people to eat healthier meals. It wouldn't be so hard if the prices for fruits and vegetables weren't so expensive.
- Since 1978, fruits and vetetables have increased by over 40% in price.

Meat and dairy farmers get 73% of the government subsidies.

Fruit and vegetable farmers get less than 1% of the subsidies.
Overtime prices will only continue to increase as they have done over the years making it harder and harder to want to purchase healthy foods, promoting the increase in foods that lead to the increase in chronic disease and obesity in the United States. The government should increase the amount of subsidies to the fruit and vegetable farmers to allow for lower costs of healthier meals. Supporting this cause, supports a healthier lifestyle.
