Name: Lorie Hackney on Apr 18, 2012Comments: Absolutely agree with this! My daughter is in 2nd grade and I think this should not be limited to just kindergartens, it should go through 5th grade. We are putting so much on our children they need more outlets than 30 minutes. Breaks during the day should be required. We had 45 minutes recess and PE when I went to the county schools. Their minds need a break to help them get through all the requirements during the day.Flag

Name: Peter Davis on Apr 18, 2012Comments: We are talking about 5 and 6 year olds who need to run, play and explore. Everyone wants to create the next Steve Jobs, but what most people don't realize is that Steve Jobs didn't spend his childhood sitting down in front of a computer. He learned to solve problems out in nature and through play. I am a public school teacher and firmly believe we need to have our kids outside more than we currently do. I realize there are demands by the state and such, but we need to figure out a way to stop stealing our kids' childhood from them by sticking them behind desks in rooms with flourescent lights!Flag

Name: Dr. David Rubendall on Apr 18, 2012Comments: 30 minutes of exercise during the school day for kindergarten children is woefully inadequate. The numerous mental, social, and physical benefits of exercise are well documented. Unfortunately, physical activity is increasingly being sacrificed for more structured activities that these young children are not developmentally ready for.Flag
