Comments: Why do female gamers have to keep being alienated? Pun not intended. Video games are not complete sausage fests. Come on, Gearbox. The game's still 9 months away as I type this. You have plenty of time to include female character models in it. This isn't fair to them. Females appreciate this franchise too. Come on.Flag -

Name: Erika Agnolia on Jun 24, 2012Comments: I actually don't have a whole lot of faith that we are going to get playable female marines in the game. I just can't even believe such a thing is an issue. The fact that playable female characters have to be requested in the first place bothers me. It's like female gamers have become a charity case. Recent games now will put in ONE NON-PLAYABLE female character as if to say "here's a female so the women will shut up." or "here is the damsel in destress for the main character to fall for." I've been playing video games all my life. I've owned practically every console there ever was. Yet the video game world seems to only acknowledge guys in their mid 20's or little kids. Which confuses me even more because if these men were straight why would they want to spend 30 hours in a fictional sausage fest. What's even worse in this case is it seems they took the time to make female marines or at least one for the single player mode. Yet it didn't even occure to them to put it in multiplayer or perhaps they just don't care.Flag

Name: Clayton Riley on Jun 24, 2012Comments: I am outraged that a franchise which has ALWAYS had a female lead is failing to have females availible in it's game sequal. It's one thing to decide to change the TRADITION of a strong female lead, another to have them unavabilible entirely. It's unacceptable and reflects poorly on the game makers as well as the company producing the game. I have quite a few female gamers on my list and one of their major concerns is always "there are no characters made for me to us." and I agree. No one is asking them to "doll up" the game. They don't need to make hot pink guns or anything like that. Make a few gritty realistic hardcore female marines so that female gamers can have as much fun as the guys are. Men always complain that women don't get into games as much as we do. Well it's no surprise when you don't account for them or make them feel welcommed in any way.Flag
