The US Department of Defence refuses to honour one of it's own with a thorough investigation and honest declaration on the details of a private's death. Private LaVena Lynn Johnson died just days shy of her twentieth birthday. Her corpse showed evidence of having been raped and beaten, prior to the execution. Private LaVena Lynn Johnson died while on base stationed in Iraq. "One wonders whether LaVena would have enlisted in the Army if she had known that Veterans Administration statistics show that one third of the women who serve in the military are victims of sexual assault by a fellow soldier. Or if she had known about an emerging pattern of "suicides" of women soldiers who were also victims of sexual assault."
