Name: Anonymous on Feb 18, 2007Comments: It is truly unconscionable that the same administration whose president says his 'job is to protect the troops' can allow these conditions for our veterans. Is his job to protect them ONLY when they are doing his bidding...but then, that brings up another discussion entirely.Flag

Name: Ron Stead on Feb 18, 2007Comments: Assuming the article is totally accurate, the description of the conditions at Walter Reed is an embarrassment to the country. The United States is the most powerful, technologically advanced military machine in history, but the key component is our brave warfighters. We send our very healthy, strong, young men and women to fight the terrorist and return some as maimed and disabled-for-life to the despicable conditions described in the article. I am the last person, who would call for assistance from our yellow-bellied Congress, but they hold significant responsibility in sending our troops into harms way and they are responsible for the entire life cycle of the warfighter. Tell Congress to get off their fat behinds and share the perks they enjoy relative to a healthy existence with those brave men and women who did their duty and returned broken. CONGRESS: IF YOU LIKE YOUR JOB, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NOW!!!Flag

Name: Faith Morgan on Feb 18, 2007Comments: Of course I will sign this petition!! Even our developmentally challenged civilians have better living conditions to live in (bless their hearts). SO our own Veterans should have the same environmental conditions to live in. I find these living conditions they have to live in are definately hazardous to the physical and mental problems they are having.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 18, 2007Comments: As an Air Force veteran, I am appalled and disgusted with the situation at Walter Reed, as well as other facilities that are supposedly "caring" for my brave fellow servicemen and servicewomen who answered YOUR call to arms, and put their lives on the line to defend this great country. Do do nothing for these brave men and women would send a message to all who have served - that we are not human beings (or even U.S. citizens), but expendable pawns of the rich and powerful that run the country. For goodness sake, how about telling the powerful corporations who fund your campaigns to put down their checkbooks for once and consider supporting our wounded soldiers for a change Is it asking too much Thank you...Flag

(specifically building 18) and to swiftly pass legislation to ameliorate these conditions for the men and and women in uniform who are sent there to recover from injuries sustained in the line of duty.Flag

A safe place to recover. Provide advocates for those who cannot speak for themselves. The conditions at Walter Reed are appalling! Someone needs to fix this immediatly!Flag

If we can throw billions (or whatever the amount )at Halliburton let's get them here to fix up Walter Reed.Flag

Name: Gregory Wagner on Feb 18, 2007Comments: As a retired army veteran with a son currently serving in Iraq, I find this Walter Reed situation very disturbing. All we here from these professional liars that have been elected to lead our nation, is how we need more money and soldiers for this war for oil in Iraq, yet they have failed miserably to care for these soldiers when they are injuried. This situation must be corrected immediately.Flag

Name: Sheri Patterson on Feb 18, 2007Comments: I find the conditions @the Walter Reed DOD # 18 in Washington,D.C. to be beyond reprehensible, I find them to be a crime. These brave people deserve to be treated w/basic respect @ least. I now see that they are being treated w/disdain. Where has all the money to support these people disappeared to These veterans should be our first priority, no questions asked. I have just listened to an excerpt from the Washington Post on the Walter Reed fiasco of Mr. Bush's speech regarding our troops & how he has stated "We owe them all we can give em". "Em" I would presume is our troops. I no longer have any respect @ all for this administration. They have lied too many times, but this is going just too far. Thank you Mr. Bush & asoc. for this final degradation. Shameful. No apology will ever make up for this. Ever.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 18, 2007Comments: The medical care of not just Walter Reed, but the entire military system needs a serious overhaul. The first step should be a patient liason, who can take and ameliorate complaints from the treated soldiers. Althought the army claims to have these, I have not found one at Walter Reed, Landstuhl, Ft. Stewart, Ft. Gordon, Ft. Hood, Ft. Meade, nor any other facility that I have been stationed.Flag
