Dear Steve Jobs and Apple, Inc.,
We, the undersigned, ask that Apple, Inc. thoroughly improve the functionality of iMovie \'08, in particular many editing features and key compatibility issues. Although many of the new iMovie features are not only impressive, but ground-breaking, the limited functionality in iMovie \'08 inhibits the usefulness of these features. Overcoming these problematic limitations would require, among other things, the following improvements:
* Simplified audio levels editing
* Added video and sound effects
* Improved sound track management
* Exporting back to camera
* Appropriate Media Browser export options for iDVD
* Chapter marker placement for iDVD
* Third-party plugin support
* An improved project view that incorporates traditional timeline features
* Simple audio extraction from video clips
* Full iMovie HD project import
While we recognize that iMovie HD is still available and fully functional for iMovie \'08 users, we are very concerned that the intended future for iMovie is to leave these widely appreciated features permanently behind. With the continual improvements in digital camcorders, we worry that future camcorder purchases would require the use of an oversimplified iMovie to edit and share memories.
It is precisely because Apple, Inc. has defined the interaction of the modern computer with personal media that we make this petition. Please address these issues with all reasonable speed and energy.
