Comments: This issue affects many fields of employment, but we are especially concerned about the impact of agriculture. Our farmers account for a huge part of upstate New York's economy, and, if they can't find the workers they need, they can suffer huge losses. Of course, there is also an impact on our food supply. It is a myth that farmers can find sufficient numbers of people locally-very few are willing to do this work. There is also a skill level required for many of these jobs. So please, do all you can to help us keep the labor force we need. Thank you

Comments: There are many jobs American citizens refuse to work. Immigrants have always looked at these entry level positions as a starting point on the way to achieving the "American Dream". I am confident the unemployment rate would not decline even if we stopped immigration completely.

Comments: People having been laid-off would never apply to the jobs I have available in my retail bakery. It's a given that most Americans would rather receive unemployment benefits while awaiting their next perfect position than work as a porter/dishwasher for $7.50/hr. The suggestion that these immigrants are taking away jobs is ridiculous.

Comments: This is an issue that I am willing to March on Washington about. It is unfathonable to me that since 1988 there has been no amnesty, that employees have been paying taxes all this time, working full time, supporting families, building communities, and yet, they still wait to be granted legal status.

Comments: Clearly we are in need of sound immigration reforms. One in which we protect our boards and two we document those that are here and they are paying their fair share of taxes. But also as important there is clearly a need to have a program that allows workers from other countries the ability to come here legally and work many of the unskilled jobs that many Americans will not do. Plus we need to develop a reasonable program that will allow those that are already here a process in which they can have legal residence.

Comments: Dear Senator Schumer, It is very important that we address the issue of those that have entered the country without documents, with the hope of improving their families lives. The vast majority of these people are hard working and honest. They would gladly pay taxes, if given the opportunity. I am a life long Republican. History would indicate that Ronald Reagan would support your efforts. Gerry Houlihan
