Name: Anonymous on Feb 21, 2007Comments: The calls are absurdly expensive ! Many people cannot afford them. Studies show that inmates who are able to have close contact with family do better while in and are at less risk of returning to prison. Other states allow inmates to make MUCH cheaper direct calls uisng prepaid cards, why not IllinoisFlag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 21, 2007Comments: The overcharging of phone rates to families of inmates is unfair and it should be regulated. This is punishing the families for contact with their loved one. It is painful enough to got through thr process of their incarceration. Please change the system and give us cheaper rates for phone bills!!Flag

Name: Lisa Engelkins on Feb 21, 2007Comments: It is outrageous the amount these calls cost for Illinois Inmates who have out of state family members such as myself. For most we are their only hope for any type of contact or normalcy. We shouldn't have to suffer financially just to keep in touch with our loved ones.Flag

Name: Angeline Reeks on Feb 21, 2007Comments: The enormous amounts that I have to pay each month to talk with my son doubles and more than doubles my monthly telephone bill. That is not logical nor is it fair. This is punishing the families and friend of Illinois inmates.Flag

Name: Tom Broderick on Feb 21, 2007Comments: The costs of the phone calls from the incarcerated to their families and friends are just another layer of punishment. If the charges are going to be as high as they are for security reasons, then those costs should be absorbed by the Department of Corrections.Flag

Name: Frank Nicholas on Feb 21, 2007Comments: It hurts me to think that a large successful business could punish the families and friends of incarcerated individuals by charging extremely high rates for services they provide. It's inhumane! Please change your ways and your rates, and do it now. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:3 that we should consider prisoners as if we ourselves were suffering as they are. If it were me and my child were in prison, my heart would cry out if I too were being punished, even with my phone calls. Prisoners' money comes very hard.Flag

My bill was $1,000 for 4 months worth of telephone calls!!! It's outrageous and it is a shame, but that will be the day when I feel the IDOC actually cares for once!!!!Flag

It is hard enough to have my husband in jail and having to deal with the costsonly son being able to at least he that come with his commissary and to visit him, but also to go day in and day out with out his hear his voice. The rates and fees that they charge are outrageous and the service is s**t!!!!! They don't care about the inmates and they for damn sure don't care about their loved ones.Flag
