We've Surpassed 1000 Signatures in Four Days.

Hello Folks:

We've now collected more than 1,000 signatures on the petition. We need more signatures before we submit this to the Governor and state representatives. Many of you are emailing your state reps with the internet address of this petition. Hopefully they will visit here and read the comments.

I don't think State reps and other politicians view inmates and their family members as much of a voting block. Our opinions are usually glossed over. I hope that we will collect enough signatures to get the point across that there are many voters affected by the revocation of good time and that will equate to a loss of votes for them.

Please continue to circulate the petition link to your contacts. Post on your websites, facebooks, myspace pages, etc.

The response has been tremendous so far....

Good Job,

please reinstate the good time for the sake of families who are in need of their family members. my husband is locked away for something he did not do but was forced to plea guilty and take a plea deal and now is there for 2-3 yrs. i need him home so i can care for him because he has issues that only i can help out with. gov quinn this state needs you to make the right decision and reinstate the good time. the election don't care for us it is only concern about money and we are taxpayers who can vote u in or out! you make the call.

  3. # Rick James on 30 July 2010 at 11:11:

The reason good time is not back in Illinois is because the majority of people in Illinois DO NOT CARE. Why would people in Illinios care if convicted criminals get out 6 months early? WHY?

  4. # ashley B on 3 August 2010 at 5:33:

    bring good time back please!!!!!

  5. # Michael Loy on 5 August 2010 at 17:28:

In my case, my husband and I were sleeping (11pm) when his brother called for his "help" removing the plow blade at the home of a family friend who had "ordered" the stolen truck for the blade. Like a fool, my husband went to help him. Turned out to be a "sting" on the brother's stolen vehicles spree. My husband was charged and convicted on a possession of stolen property charge, sententensed to 4.5 years (he was IN IDOC only a few years ago for 2x driving while license suspended/revoked and sentensed to 2 years - we are told because he has "a prior DOC record" they have him the "max" on his conviction this time. We are not talking about YOUNG men here .. my husband is over 50; I am over 60 and in increasingly bad health. He still has over a year 5 months to do .. I hope my health holds out, but this is questionable. HIS crime was a "non violent" crime; WHO .. but ME would CARE if his sentense were reduced by 6 months?? PLEASE ENCOURAGE our political officials to get this decision REVERSED. Thank you.

wondering why good time will not still be a benefit for inmates if they are not in there for life anyway or have committed a violent crime good time is necessary being incarcerated a day is enough for a year that one day is disturbing they need to think about this being incarcerated brings other problems within that person help them find jobs and counsel those can be helped how can one person commit the same crime of another and get more time this system is corrupt any how why not save the government more money to steal and misuse. but innocent people are punished for mis guided government why should one pay for another man actions 45000 men have to pay for what one man did wow now thats unfair practices im rooting for good time give it to the deserved.....

  16. # Maria Robinson on 23 June 2011 at 13:43:

My son is in Lake County, IL jail. He has been in since January, 2011. I believe the good time really needs to be re-instated for people like my son, who have shown they can be trusted. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Maria Robinson

Bring good time back please, its bad when inmates keep hearing dates that its supposed to come back and they get their hopes up thinkin they can come home a little sooner, then their hopes get shot down!! They are human beings and i believe that NON VIOLENT offenders should be able to get their good time!

  18. # desiree stephens on 14 July 2011 at 0:25:

we need good time back badly!!!!

  19. # Rachel Smith on 3 August 2011 at 0:18:

Here's a good idea, how about there be no program that rewards inmates for doing "good behavior". Grow up and get over yourselves. Whoever is in prison, a loved one or not, DESERVES to be in there for something he/she has done.

Just because they have good behavior doesn't mean they should have early release and avoid full punishment for their crime.

What are they? A baby being potty trained. Come on? How ridiculous.

  20. # Britney on 30 September 2011 at 2:40:

Please bring back good time! The state needs to do this. Prisons are becoming over crowded. The people who have not committed severe crimes are paying for this. BRING IT BACK!

  27. # Simone Beller on 10 November 2011 at 19:07:

This is absolutely ridiculous! The government is crying broke, but you refuse to release non violent/ misdemeanor offenders! These "criminals" are not the only ones serving time! Bring these fathers, brothers, and sons home! Maybe if you stop wasting time and money one petty offenders you can re instate needed programs like WIC (women, infants and children)

my husband is in vienna correctional and is in need of the good time. he has a class x but still should be able to get good time. he is a father of two boys, has no tattoos, is not gang related, this was a first offense, is needed at home to help with the finances. has been in prison for over a year and a half. we dont get to see him, for he is over six hours away from home. he has outside clearance and it would be nice if he could come home on a ankle bracelet or probation. please help!

  29. # charlotte on 21 December 2011 at 5:11:

Please bring back good time, my son has been incarcerated for 4 years, he was 16, at that time goodtime was still in effect and was told he would be out in 4 years when he took a plea bargain, because we could not afford a attorney, I use to believe in justice for all, but seems to only happen if u can buy your way out. Very disappointed in the judicial system and politicians, by the way this was my sons first offense, but was tried just before election.

Following my investigation, billions of persons all over the world get the business loans from well known banks. So, there is good possibilities to receive a consolidation loan in every country.

Please bring back good time in IL as my family member is in jail trying to prove his innocents but if he does time it would be better if he could do it with good time. It's his 1st offence so pleeeease concider it. It would also help the over packed jails and our economy.

  37. # trisha on 12 April 2012 at 23:21:

I just want to say that I am all for them bringing back good time. I would really love for my boyfriend to come back home to me and our two kids. This is his first time every being in prison and he has been in there for almost four years, he was in there the first time when they were giving out good time but I don't know what happened. All I know is that I want him to get out early next year and not late next year, he has missed so much of our kids lives that it hurts both of us. So please bring back good time.

I strictly recommend not to hold off until you get big sum of money to order different goods! You should just get the mortgage loans or just bank loan and feel fine
