Name: Sydney Hart on Jun 21, 2004State: ILComments: I am lucky to have my child in the regional gifted program. He is, truly, no smarter than many other children. However, the entire system is skewed to benefit children like my son, white kids in middle class neighborhoods. However, it hurts my son, my city, and my friends when the inequities in our schools damage our children.Flag

Name: Dianne Seppelfrick on Jun 21, 2004State: ILComments: Better schools, higher paid teachers, more investment in the children and cirriculum - not more money for guys wearing suits in offices! Everyone would gladly pay more property tax or apt. rent, but everybody knows it doesn't really go to the schools to make the education better. Whose pockets are getting fatter Teachers are working harder than any of those fat, white office guys and a lot of the rest of the American work force. Also, can you start to address the segregation issue and the inequity resulting therefrom It really is disgusting. Why are poor kids not able to do well on the standardized tests, most of who are of a darker color Does anyone really care about improving the school system for the kids.Flag
