The current law sets the placement fee at $15 per credit bureau and allows the freeze to automatically expire after 7 years. 2. POLICE REPORTS It should be the right of any identity theft victim to request law enforcement documentation in the jurisdiction in which they live. 3. SECURITY BREACH LAW AMENDED Consumers should be notified each and every time their personal information is lost or stolen by an entity. Certain entities should not be allowed to be exempt from notification. The current law allows entities to determine the likelihood a consumer\'s information may be used to commit fraud before notification and exempts some from having to notify consumers of a breach.
