To the Continuation Committee of the International Conference on Establishment Statistics (ICES) conference series

Participants in the European Commission’s FP7 project “Data without Boundaries – DwB” are informed about initiatives to propose a European venue for ICES-V, the next conferences in the series of International Conferences on Establishment Statistics (ICES).

Since its start in 1993, ICES promotes research in methods and applications for statistics on, and for, businesses, organisations and other kinds of institutions. ICES features invited and contributed papers and demonstrations from around the globe that highlight new, improved and upcoming establishment survey methodologies and technologies using census data, administrative data, and sample survey data.

Participants come from academia, government statistical agencies, private business, statistical associations, and other sectors with an interest in international best practice in conceptualization, design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The four ICES conferences thus far have all had North American venues.

We believe that selecting a European venue for ICES-V would provide additional boost for the already growing theoretical research, methodological developments and applications within business and economic statistics in Europe, and benefit official statistics and decision making in Europe.

Therefore, we ask the ICES Continuation Committee to select a European venue for ICES-V.
