Name: Christina Tague on Jun 16, 2010Comments: The ice rink is an important part of my daily life. I have been playing hockey there for the past four years and have come to consider myself a strong supporter or Lane County Ice. I am also a coach for Special Hockey and a member of the Eugene Xtreme women's hockey team. The loss of the ice rink would be a severe detriment to life in Lane County, for hundreds of children, adults, and families.Flag

Name: Kara Minchin on Jun 16, 2010Comments: The rink is a valuable resource to our area and our children. Having a place where families can play together in our community is important. There are very few examples of activities that bridge generations - ice skating is one of those. Keep the rink open!Flag

Name: Kellie Hays on Jun 16, 2010Comments: I'm extremely excited about the prospect of brininging Sled Hockey to Lane County in October and about the current growth we are experiencing with Special Hockey. The Lane Amateur Hockey Association now serves over 100 youth and the Churchill ice hockey team had the best season ever. The adult league and the Eugene 'Xreme' women's hockey team promote fitness to over 200 adults. Thousands of fans enjoy Generals and Ducks games thoughout the season and bring visitors and revenue to our area. The decision to keep the building open as an ICE RINK, however, does come down to dollars and cents. Given the opportunity, the ICE center CAN be run as an ongoing PROFITABLE BUSINESS ENTERPRISE. It is my personal opinion that we do not need a multi-use events center.Flag

Name: Michael D. O'Heron on Jun 17, 2010Comments: With the closest similar facilities in Portland to the north and Medford to the south, this rink provides recreation and a community focal point for a wide area. The Generals and the U of O teams would be hard pressed to continue their existence if this facility were to close. Please keep it open and operating while a permanent solution is found and implemented.Flag

Name: Keith Welch on Jun 17, 2010Comments: My son and I have been using the Lane Ice Center for hockey for several years. The experience has been extremely positive for us. We live in Benton County and our weekly expenditures in Lane county are substantial and are matched by several other out of county users. This has to have a positive impact on Lane County's local economy and tax revenue. I would suggest the latest problem to come to light can be resolved without closing the rink. Please give the ice community a chance to work with the county to find a solution. Thank you. Keith and Kory Welch.Flag

Name: Noell D'Agosta on Jun 17, 2010Comments: This rink serves no many people in the community. It would be a HUGE loss to the children, teens, young adults, parents, grandparents.....I could go on. Not having the rink would hurt all the kids that currently play ice hockey, those that play junior hockey and those that play for the University of Oregon hockey team. Not to mention the figure skaters, speed skaters, etc. This is a safe, fun, economical place for all people, young and old, to hang out and have good, clean, safe fun.Flag

Name: M.A. Neuschwander on Jun 17, 2010Comments: A safe, clean place for our kids, grandkids, and visitors is needed. I have been skating since a small child - and still love going to the ice rink with my kids, their friends, and soon my grandkids. Skaters are not couch potatoes - it is good excercise and a much needed resourse in Eugene. Do not close the ice rink a second time - Keep it open for all of Lane County, and all the people from Linn County, & Benton County. There is a much larger populace that you serve - don't ignore the little people anymore.Flag

Name: Renee M. Parr on Jun 17, 2010Comments: I know the economy is tight, but there are people that drive nearly 100 miles to skate at this facility. If there wasn't such a demand for ice hockey and figure skating venues, no one would be bothering with this. Where are the Ducks and Generals going to play??Flag

Our kids need places like the ice rink to excel in life, please keep it open.Flag

Name: Dusty St.Germain on Jun 17, 2010Comments: Our kids need this rink open, it helps keep kids off of streets and out of trouble while building life skills that they need. Our city can keep building bike paths for people who can ride bikes anywhere but our ice rink which is the only one within 2 hours is at jeporady---something doesn't seem right.Flag

Name: Emily Snider on Jun 17, 2010Comments: This is one of the few safe places for our youth to play, have fun, and get exercise (especially with our rainy weather). Shutting down the ice rink will not only cut off avenues of stress relief for our community, it will also cut off our up and rising iceskating sports enthusiasts.Flag
