While under the influence of Ibogaine Chloride the patient undergoes what is known as a "trip," due to the drugs hallucinogenic properties. The hallucination that this drug produces takes the user into a journey through his/her past and creates strangely vivid depictions of their possible future while still abusing whatever substance they've become addicted to. This process is referred to as a "Waking Dream," because it requires the patient to lie awake for at least 22 hours while the hallucination occurs. Later after the experience of the drug, scientist have concluded that the brains NMDA receptors are reset and for a period of time ranging anywhere from six weeks to six months. This is caused by the drug destroying cells within the cerebellum; the portion of the brain that is linked to repetitive and habitual behavior. The loss of cravings is one of the most significant attributes of this drug, but also the fact that this drug suppresses withdrawal symptoms, which is often the main reason opiate users relapse. What’s even more substantial is that Ibogaine is effective on a wide range of drugs including cigarettes/nicotine, Crystal Meth, Opiate derivatives (cocaine, crack cocaine, ecstasy, etc.), methadone, and alcohol. However, this drug is illegal in the United States and has been labeled as a schedule one substance which by definition of the FDA contains non-medicinal hallucinogens such as LSD and PCP. With enough signatures more attention can be brought to this essential topic. Please, if you know anyone close or at all that suffers from addiction in anyway, sign this petition all it takes is the word of the people!
