This petition is to accompany our Iberia Parish resolution when it is presented in front of our school board members for vote. -We the citizens of Iberia Parish oppose the Common Core State Standards that were introduced to the State of Louisiana through the Race to the Top agreement in January of 2010 -We the citizens of Iberia Parish believe that the State of Louisiana education is not subject to the control or mandate of the Federal Government, any Federal Agency, or any national board -We the citizens of Iberia Parish believe the Common Core State Standards were implemented too quickly, are not perfect standards, and may not reflect the norms of our community in all cases - We the citizens of Iberia Parish object to the invasion of student and family privacy by the mandated collection and sharing of intrusive student data required by the PARCC, or any other agreement. -We the citizens of Iberia Parish believe that Common Core State Standards do not justify the disruption to instruction, accountability, professional development and teacher preparation that follows adoption of these standards and PARCC assessments in our system; and we further reject that the Engage NY Curriculum state approved, adopted and implemented in the Iberia Parish Public School System does not meet the need of every child, every day in Iberia Parish. -We the citizens of Iberia Parish ask the Iberia Parish Public School System to be exempt from the implementation of CCSS and PARCC assessment and testing.
