Comments: Ian's work, MTH and solo, is timeless. He picked up where early American rockers left off and carried rock'n'roll into the '70s with a brawnier sound and a more nuanced lyric, and continues to make airtight songs that really mean something. Ian belongs in the Rock Hall because his influence can be heard all over the best of rock'n'roll, and we are all the richer for it.

Comments: Ian Hunter to me is the voice I never had. He and Mott the Hoople said more for the British working man than any other artist of the time, he was my voice, my energy , my inspiration and my conscience. No compromise, he was the best during the grim times in 70's Britain and has continued to produce quality thought provoking music which question political and social values whilst living across the pond. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be honoured to welcome such a hidden gem.

Comments: Mr. Hunter's direct contribution to the art, his immeasurable influence on the development and inspiration of other artists, and his continued importance as a vital working musician are indisputable. His success commercially in the context of both his recordings, and cover recordings have touched all our lives and served as an important component of Rock and Roll’s cultural fabric. A truly great contributor to the genre Ian hunter has forced us to ask ourselves the questions that help to define our society challenge the status quo and demand thoughtful reflection on issues that impact our lives. Music would be poorer without him and enshrinement is recognition long overdue for this superlative musician/artist/visionary that has touched so many so deeply. I strongly urge the committee to recognize Ian Hunter with enshrinement; he is a true living legend whose time has come to be placed in the company of his peers – the elite group of artists who have transcended the ordinary and delivered the extraordinary.

Comments: Ian Hunter's been around long enough that the bands he initially influenced, from the early punks through Wilco, the Replacements and hundreds more, have become massive influences themselves. The man remains one of the best songwriters in rock and roll and, at least based on recent output, has shown a dedication to his art and a staying power that few artists ever achieve. More than a pop star, Hunter is rock and roll. Ian Hunter is a true treasure and needs to be inducted into the hall of fame.
