In response to an investigation by the Better Business Bureau, Spa World representative Sang Lee stated in writing: “It is our policy to not accept any kinds of abnormal sexual oriented customers to our facility such as homosexuals, or transgender(s)....Also, for the safety and the comfort of young children at Spa World, we strongly forbid any abnormal sexual behaviors and orientation in our facility. Despite the controversial issue of homosexuality and transgender, it is our policy to not accept them.” We, the undersigned, have regularly come to and enjoyed our time at Spa World in Centreville, VA. However, until the anti-gay and anti-trans policy is changed, we will not give you our patronage and our money. We know this policy is legal in Virginia. However, we feel it is bigoted, offensive and unnecessary. Many of us are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. You don't know who we are because when we are at Spa World, often with our children, it makes no difference. It should make no difference, but you have called us abnormal and a threat to children. This is why we and our friends and allies will not bring you our business until you apologize and publicly change your policy.
