Comments: This is ridiculous! UCLA is not being singled out by USC, this is our tradition for every game. Should everyone stop all cheering during the game? It might offend someone...

Comments: Please realize that there is bigger than just whether or not the field is physically stabbed this coming game day. If the drum major is kept from stabbing the field, it marks the beginning of the end of the school's rich tradition, and even the tradition of a cross-town rivalry that is known across the entire nation. When fans can dictate the actions of their opponents, it defeats the spirit of rivalry that has been tradition for decades, and opens the field to more and more actions by both sides to petition the opposing fans into paralysis. This tradition must be kept, even if it means giving up a half time show!

Comments: The Drum Major stabbing the field is a key tradition of the Trojan Marching Band and of Trojan Football. It is part of every pregame show on EVERY field the band marches on to. UCLA administration can cave in to whiny fans if they want, but they can't turn around and tell US what to do with OUR traditions, especially when this particular tradition has nothing to do with UCLA. Their actions set a terrible precedent for the sport.
