I support the spearing ban on LSC and would like to see more strict harvest regulations for muskellunge on all other Michigan waters

Michigan should close spearing for Muskellunge on all lakes. Spearing is detrimental to the population. Its high exploitation rates are subduing its potential to havesustainable waters. I have fished and/or plan to fish Michigan waters, and would invest more fishing time in Michigan if the regulations were changed to allow for increased opportunities. Spearing should also continue to be banned on Lake St Clair, as LSC has shown that world renown Muskie destinations can be achieved if the regulations do not permit winter harvest.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you care about our muskie populations. We are nearing a hundred signatures and the momentum belongs entirely to your dedication to our waters.

As the former national president of Muskies Incorporated I can validate the economic and biological challenges spearing causes. It not only hurts the ecosystem but hurts your state economically. Please reconsider your position on this issue.
As a northern Wisconsin fisherman and guide I will be visiting your great state due to your excellent stocking plan of GL strain fish into all. However I will not spend my hard earned tourist dollars if the hard work by so many is put to the test of more liberalized spearing regulations.
Ban spearing on such a valuable resource that takes so long to reach trophy size and with reduced numbers will cause decades of damage to recover from. Not to mention if the fish population goes on the decline so does tourism from the fishing community.
Please get with modern fisheries management techniques, this archaic practice must stop, remember apex predators are key in the overall health of any particular ecosystem , there loss may not be felt immediately but in the long run there is always a consequence , please put a stop to this practice, thank you
Muskies need more potection from spearing. Spearing can decimate a musky population and often targets mature breeding fish that can be as much as 30 years old. Hard to spear and release.

As a Lake Skegemog homeowner for over 23 years I know the numbers of fish per acre in the Lower Chain. To intentionally kill these magnificent fish is heartbreaking and detrimental to the future of the species in the chain. Please close these waters to spearing.
