Comments: How can this country not support teachers is beyond me. To close schools while we bailout banks too big to fail is a crime. No MORE PRIVATIZATION of our public schools.

Comments: Preventing crime and maintaining a civil society means continuing to provide public education. The experts tell us this again and again. There is no excuse for violence done to public schooling; an attack on public schooling is an attack on civil society itself.

Comments: I live just a couple blocks from the Lakeview elementary school, and I'm very concerned about the unnecessary closure of local schools. It is very heartening to see the community come together for the Lakeview Sit-in to fight against this attack on our community. Fully funded public education is a human right as well as a necessary part of a functional community.
