Comments: People who want to close this school do not know neither do they care to know what this school is all about. Lakeview has produced successful students who went on to become professionals in many a different fields, hard working people and good citizens. We can't allow the district to rob our future scientist, doctors, engineers, teachers, presidents, entrepreneurs etc. from receiving great education from teachers like Ms. Thomas, Mr Panagas, just to name a couple of solid teachers who have given (taught my kids, now in their mid 20's) a great start to many students who are now making a difference in this community and elsewhere. Every chance children of color get a great break in surviving life, here they come to nip it in the bud in the name of "no money". In the case of lakeview they (district) are trying to say that the school is unsafe, it is near the freeway. How long has this school been there with ZERO incidents and accidents. Give me a break!!!! You should try it, compassion. Go in there and look at those little innocent faces whom you are trying so hard to interrupt their future. I guess it does not matter that much to the "education nappers" who are in the business of meeting other...and to jeopardize the future of "LITTLE ONES". Who did they make the deal with? 'cause it certainly was not with the parents and community that supports this school and the other schools they are doing the same too. Look at those schools and you will see the similarity. Who are they selling the property to? if that is the case. Hmmm!

Comments: Tax the 1%. Reopen schools. Refund our commons and return our City to the democratic control of the 99%. 5.9% of Oakland income earners make over $200k a year, meaning that their are more than twice as many 1%ers in Oakland than the national average, yet Oakland is insufficiently funded by tax revenues. This is wrong and somehow must be rectified by the creative legislative abilities of our elected officials or they should resign or be recalled. That a city with the wealth of Oakland should close schools in poor neighborhoods is just more ruthlessness by the rich to lower their tax burden while enfeeble the less fortunate. Shame on the politicians of Oakland.
